If the club do get rid of Eddie I hope they go for someone like Fabregas rather than Mourhino - someone will fresh ideas.  He's doing really well at Como

I presume this has already been posted but Shearers thoughts

“I don’t know whether Howe would read Hopkinson’s quotes, to be honest. I don’t think it would bother him. I think he’s been in the game long enough, even though he’s not that old; he’s vastly experienced.

“He understands how the game works. For me, Eddie Howe is the most successful manager in Newcastle’s history. He saved Newcastle from a disaster.

“So, if there’s one manager that deserves the chance, or the opportunity to go again in the summer, it’s him. The position that Newcastle are in at this moment in time, through no fault of their own, because of PSR or SCR, whatever, it’s been a really tough, difficult season for Newcastle.

“There are many factors for it, and I guess there has to be an inquest into how, why, and what. But I think if there’s one manager that deserves the chance to go again and try and rebuild to get back where they have been in recent seasons, then I think it’s Eddie Howe.

“He deserves that because of what he’s done for Newcastle, and what he’s achieved. I’d be more than happy to say he has to be able to go again.”

We need more of this like when tripper came out after the villa win?

Only issue with someone like Fabregas is that he'll absolutely use it as a stepping stone, he'll be away to Arsenal/Barca if the opportunity arises

I haven't watched that video but hasn't Fabregas' success there been built on fully having the keys to the castle? If so he wouldn't exactly represent the key change we might theoretically be after when Howe eventually goes.

He owns part of the club I think. He seem to have done well but I’m not convinced he’s anything ore than just flavour of the month. Hasn’t had to co-manage a European campaign alongside a succcesful league campaign.

IF we were to get rid of Howe then no way would I want us to go for Fabregas. Personally I'd like Sebastian Hoeneß from Stuttgart.

This is currently living in my head rent free its doing my head in , I was only young when keegan left and a teenager when sir bobby was forced out. Players leaving and winning things i'm not that arsed about but  if i see Eddie howe go to a rival and do what he has done for us  without his hands tied that would ruin me and the love i have for this club.

Just today i was thinking Eddies never managed a game in Europe before us, yet we've battered teams who have depth came a pen away from getting out the group of death etc we don't and we've always gone far in cups when it seems we always play the big boys. Turn back the clock and get him a pedro or delap

In my opinion this is exactly what you need (Fabregas, Conte, a coach who decides everything... especially the transfer market) or alternatively you can stay with Howe but you have to change the club's management.

And spending a lot of money

Como spent €100 millions on 10 players, their most expensive purchase for a player was €22 millions and they have a real chance of playing in the Champions League next year.

Not bad for a Club that played in the fourth division 8 years ago.

Como have the largest net spend in Serie A by 110%. And the 5th highest total spend this season more than Inter, Lazio, Fiorentina, Roma.

I don't know a lot about them but clearly there's great investment going into that club. Fabregas might be a generational manager but this Como run is extremely well funded

I can't think of anything worst. Can you imagine giving Conte the keys to the castle letting him spaff it all up the wall and him then resigning as he always does.

In what way? We've just appointed new people to the major executive jobs.

We spent more than that on players that probably wouldn't even get games for Como

It might surprise you, but aside from Nico Paz, the others are all promising young players, far from being phenomenal (even potentially) and others who have failed or were underused in their previous teams.

I always argue with my friends when they say that the football coach accounts for a maximum of 30% of the team's results... for me it's much more.

For Serie A yes, for the PL that money are crumbs.

I didn't necessarily mean those two, I meant that type of coach. Besides, they're both odious a mix of arrogance and victimhood....by far the most unpleasant coaches in Serie A, but they know how to manage the team..

Before January or am I wrong? I hope they do better than last summer.

I see many similarities between our management in the 2010s and yours.

If we were to change coach we actually need a unicorn in charge because the challenges we face in the short to medium term are very tough.

A manager run the show type is probably the opposite of what we need though as we will have to player trade and having someone resign because a key system player was sold would be a disaster in this circumstance.

The new ones in charge weren't in place last summer, we'll see what they do but they haven't really had time to show whether they're good or bad yet. All we have is just words to the press, which is meaningless in both directions.
