What's he going to do different next season, how even with new players will he evolve the team, what happens if we have too many games again, why is he allergic to making timely subs or changing it when see danger, why does he and tindall constantly look perplexed on the sideline, when will he question his own tactics and formation as they just don't work

Something stinks at the club. Players wanting away. Daft Canadian doing nowt but bullshitting. Very little investment into infrastructure. Horrific scouting. It’s gone badly wrong this season.

I still want him to stay but I'm beginning to worry it's wishful thinking from me. 

 

If he stays the summer and starts next season like this then he'll get sacked imo. So we should keep him only if we have real confidence he can turn it around. He has turned around from poor seasons and done well. 

 

But if we do sack him mid season, we'll have a worse set of choices. And we'll be bringing in someone new to use a squad Howe built. It's a big risk whatever we do at this point. Dispassionately, if there's a standout choice available in the summer and Eddie has shown little in the remainder of this season, I think it would be sensible to replace him. 

 

At the end of the day I do think he's a good manager, and I respect him and think he has earned another chance. But I can understand those who think another chance requires some signs of change first. 

 

It's all pretty miserable.

Football is up and down yes, fans always support the club but that doesn’t mean they can’t say what they’re seeing with their own eyes.

The issue is the timing. A lot of clubs will most likely be in the market this summer, so competition for those names will be intense.

 

It’s not just about identifying better coaches, it’s about actually landing one ahead of everyone else I’m afraid. 

 

I get that, which is why I didn't include Alonso because he's nailed on for Liverpool. You're right, which is why I hope they're already putting the feelers out. Citeh, Man U and Chelsea will probably all be looking for managers.

Im not saying Iarola wouldn’t improve us, just don’t think currently you can say he definitely better because they are above us. Fwiw if Howe goes, I’d pick Iraola to replace him.

Aye he'd be a name on my list. It's going to be tough if Eddie goes. The constraints we have mean we need a managerial unicorn. We thought we had one but yikes he's been poor this season.

In what way exactly? Iraola is above him, Maresca, Xavi and Pochetino have won more trophies.

The context of today’s defeat (Derby disaster to make amends for, plenty of time on the grass, tired AND weakened Palace team etc) means it’s an awful result for him, made worse by the ‘performance’. If we’re honest, we barely deserved our 1. 
 

Genuine question, are those players still playing for him? Last two games suggest not to me. 
 

Gut feel is that he’ll walk. Which, imho, he’s earned given his achievements here. 
 

He’s a really dignified bloke who’s majorly struggled this season, for reasons discussed thousands of times in this thread and others, but this really does feel like the wheels are coming off….

 

I fear the Derby game was where he ‘lost’ many match going supporters and I’m not sure he can win them back over any sustainable period now the doubts have set in for so many fans. I hope he does if he stays.
