Standard thinking we were all born yesterday strawman bollocks tbh. It took all of three posts to re-frame "the hate pointed at people who are as fitting of legendary status as anyone ever associated with the club" into the "expecting loads of back slapping and 100% positivity" that literally no one said.

Cheers, I couldn't be arsed.

Tbh the stuff I saw most recently on Twitter was targeted at Burn, I wasn't even on about Howe then, though of course he's been in receipt of laughable disrespect too.

As for being a usual suspect getting upset at criticism, I said after the Bournemouth defeat I could accept him leaving this summer. As you say, that's really not the point. No one thinks last season was acceptable.

The strawmanning is off the charts. Wonder how the Eindhoven crew put up with it.

I remember many people being underwhelmed by his appointment at the time but once he arrived he got behind him, he got over his tough start and that was that.

I'll happily admit he wasn't my first choice at the time. He wouldn't have been yours either.

I'll be really happy with this appointment tbh, think it could work out really well for all parties.

Concerns are his defensive record (hopefully he's thought on this during his lengthy time off) and it sounds daft but his apparent unwillingness to move from the South Coast up to now. Hope he doesn't have bother settling or anything.

The relegation doesn't worry me, almost all managerial spells fizzle out in the end and they only narrowly went down in the end anyway. Maybe the relegation takes the job he did at Bournemouth down to an A from an A+, but no more than that as the job he did there was unbelievable.

There's a lot to get excited about imo - attractive style of play, innovative methods, obsessive attention to detail and also this is a bloke who has had ample time out of the game to recharge and doubtless feels like he has something to prove now.

See no reason why both Howe and NUFC can't push on together now, but we do need wins soon if we're to attract decent players in January. He needs to galvanise the squad quickly and I think he has the type of personality where he can do that.

You're surprised they're discussing a manager on a football forum?

Right now, on June 16th when no football has been played or will be played for weeks? Yeah

They love me! Probably moreso than the York City fans do you I reckon

In fairness and important context here is that we’d won one game in them 2 months IIRC (though signs were there) and this post is 24hrs after we dropped late points at home to a shite Watford. I remember questioning it myself when we were staring down the barrel at FT of the Watford game so he’d certainly not have been the only one having doubts at that point.

Basically from that game onwards everything was mint up until last season though.

Everyone knows Howe's first couple of months were rough. I was responding to a post claiming there'd been no criticism of him.

The wider point is there were a lot of people who didn't think Howe was big enough or good enough in the first place, now the Saudis were in. I've long suspected these fans will have been the first to jump on him last season, after 3.5 years of a mostly outstanding reign.

But I can't be arsed digging out posts for every single Howe-outer to prove or disprove this, so whatever.

I thought this summer was the ideal time to move him on, I personally would have gotten rid. As it is, he’s staying so fully behind him and hope we start the season well and build a bit of momentum.

I think this is fair. I personally wouldn't have moved him on but I've no issue with those who felt that the timing was right.

The reality is, we all know what has to happen next season and it needs to happen in the first 2 months.

Only time will tell. He lost a bit of me with that Palace game tbh, 3 weeks to prepare for that crap, following on from the derby devastation. The season ended for me that day. But i've been behind him since day one and continue to be that. I worry that it won't start well enough and things will turn quickly though. He doesn't deserve a bad end to his time here at all.

My worry is that we try and force away to get Woltemade into the team and it doesnt work.

Weve got lumped with a 60 odd million headache.

I know some want a 4231 but he has to justify putting our eggs in his basket first.

Howe solving that number 10/midfield dilemma will be what defines the season.

Must admit I'm a bit baffled why this is even being posted in tbh. We've not kicked a ball for nearly a month, the bloke is on a well deserved holiday and isn't playing any part in any developments that are, or are not, happening. Really odd timing to be posting anything in here ???

And a whole ass World Cup happening too.

I mean we can all be frustrated with the games where the subs came way too late etc, but there was also a massive consensus before this season that we should go all out in all out to defend the league cup despite being in the CL.

He obviously didnt get any time to do what he does best with all these games. Think a lot of people here needs to watch this again

In a nutshell, I love Howe i think hes amazing but... I worry there are too many problems to fix and not just small problems, problems that cost too many points:

Goalkeeper: We cant start the season with Pope, therefore we need to sign a goalkeeper. Jouen is too young to be number 1.

CB: Right now our CBs cant perform without Burn/Schar holding their hand, despite Thiaw and Botman having massive potential. Will they start performing if the rest of the side has a better structure? We will see.

Fullback: We've got 2 of England's best young fullbacks, one is injury prone, the other is linked away... oh and weve got no back ups in either position.

Midfield: Plenty of talent but weve got Willock who needs shifted, Tonali who wants to leave, Miley whos also injury prone and balance issues between them.

Wingers: Weve got zero good wingers right now (Barnes is ok). Munoz if he signs will be a step in the right direction but we would at the very least need a RW to look remotely competitive in wide areas.

Strikers: Wissa looks god awful. Will a pre season revive him? I doubt it. Woltemade is talented but will he ever fit this team? Osula is bright and I like him but hes as likely to be average next year as he is to really take off (at least he will work hard).

The squad is a mess right now and Howe is going to do really well to cobble this together and make some sort of europe.

Yeah, me too. I was on Twitter when we had Bruce as manager saying I wish we'd sack him off and get Howe. Was over the moon when we went for Howe.

It's a squad he's built. Do you trust him with another £250m to try to right the wrongs or do you bring in someone else to do it?

Maybe he's earned the right to fix it, I can understand that. There now aren't really any credible alternatives for me at this current time. I also know that last summer has to be a one off and exception to the rule. We felt the consequences right the way through the season and are now feeling it going into the summer. And that's just on the pitch, not the financial implications.

But weve been through this, yes last years transfers were poor but the ones before that were excellent and weve completely changed our approach/scouting structure.

Although, ill give you this. If they cock up this summer... absolutely nothing can save Howe.

But just to be clear, its not Howe on his own. Its a collective but ultimately the manager will carry the can.

You could also have picked out dozens and dozens of pro Howe stuff I've put on here for balance but have chosen not to. Fair enough.

Your negativity towards Eddie Howe and your witch hunt of late has been shocking man.
