Joe1984
Howes a disgrace! Been here for 4 years. Saved us from certain relegation. Got in the CL twice and ended our long trophy drought. But we keep losing away, so Howe out? 🤣
Kimbo
I would’ve been happier if he complained about lack of technical ability instead of lack of physicality and energy. If the ambition is to be a top team then we have to be better at keeping the ball.

Really? I'm with Jack on this. The game has been dragged to it's knees by corruption, greed and incompetence. The end result is stuff like PSR, VAR and a lack of accessibility for fans. Unfortunately, a lot of my emotional ties to the club have fallen away in recent years, so my interest in football pretty much hangs by a thread. That thread is most likely Howe and the current crop of players. They give everything and have delivered succeed that I never thought I'd see in my lifetime. Howe isn't bigger than the club, but he feels like one of the last people about that gives the club a human and relatable touch. So with him gone, I could easily see me jacking it in. That's before we touch on the fans, but that's a different discussion.

Maybe he should be. https://ketsbaias.co.uk/longreads/match-report-west-ham-3-newcastle-united-1-howe-under-pressure-maybe-he-should-be/ If we go for “intensity is our identity” this season, half of our team will be out with injuries, and the rest will be ran into the ground. It's easy to identify the problem, but knowing the solution is more difficult. I think this is his struggle now. I think he's trying to be more conservative with our energy since we have 2 games per week. He did that at the start of the season during our last CL season, but reverted back to going all in on intensity, as he couldn't find an alternative style that worked. As we know that resulted in an absolute nightmare with the injuries and fatigue. He is trying to avoid that this season, but it seems like he is struggling to find a more moderate way of playing, as intensity has allways been his style. Atleast that's what I think is the problem. I think he's still trying to figure out how he can win while also keeping his players fit through some serious load of gametime. We have more depth this time though, so maybe I'm wrong, and he does want us to play with lots of intensity. It just seems like he has abandoned the constant high pressing style, presumably because it's not sustainable. Now, having some natural fullbacks available would be useful aswell. Our fullback sitaution is a nightmare. I hope we can sign a right back in january. Edited November 3, 2025 by Erikse

NG32
We are suffering champions league hang over, it happens to those teams who break into that competition and then struggle to juggle their squads. Its frustrating but I do think we will pick up, if we qualify for the later stages or get knocked out of the tournament.

Your report is DE-NIED. Play the ball, not the man. Engage in the discussion. It is naïve to think Howe will not be facing greater scrutiny and pressure from PIF after a summer where we have spent £250m only to see our league form decline considerably. It is not a call for Howe to be replaced, nor is it suggesting that he is at risk of being sacked, but he will be under pressure if our league form does not turn around soon. The former can be put down to bad day, we were off it, etc. The latter is a bit closer to saying your players aren't good enough. I'm sure Howe could word it diplomatically but I can see why he wouldn't want to go there.
Ruddy Marveauxlous
I've read suggestions that the problems stem from trying to move from a high-intensity counter attacking side to one that is more comfortable retaining possession and unlocking low-block defences. If that is the case, then why did we waste £100m on Jacob Ramsey and Anthony Elanga, neither of whom are well-suited to possession based sides as both lack the guile and technical capabilities of unlocking organised defences. These were players personally pursued by Howe, so of course there has to be accountability.

I agree that he should, and will, be given time to turn it around. He's a club legend and forever will be. He may even be given credit to have even one bad season (saving an absolute disaster of course) without facing proper pressure from the owners. What I am saying is that this season, more than any previous season, he will be facing greater scrutiny and pressure from the owners than he has done before now.
