Eddie Howe

Should be really disappointed with himself today, imo.

I thought the Gordon for ASM switch was fine and worth a shot, would've preferred it to be Miggy than ASM but City are so good at home and will pin you back.

Watching Wilson fanny about for 60 minutes getting ragdolled and missing easy chances just isn't good enough though. 1 in 14 ffs. Didn't even press very well today either.

We’ve scored 3 goals in the league since December. It’s March. There’s no defence whatsoever for playing Callum Wilson again today.

Is that 'absolutely everything'?

Probably where the hyperbole bit comes in.

That I have huge respect for him or the fact we can’t score goals to save our lives isn’t a big issue? You can see the likes of Bruno and Botman getting really frustrated with how useless we are in the final third.

The comment 'getting everything wrong for a while now'.

Absolutely ridiculous comment.

It's not like we haven't been creating chances like.

Ignoring today, since 31st of December we've scored 3 league goals from an xG of 11.67. We need to be working on finishing and attacking set plays.

Eh? He's been great for us, but he's not doing a very good job atm.

Disagree tbh. We're completely failing to put chances away to an almost comical degree. The manager can't put the ball in the net for them like. There are things about the lineup I'd have changed today, both before the game and with the benefit of hindsight, but the level of negativity from the same old faces is as laughable as it is unsurprising.

No doubt in my mind that Howe will learn from this patch of form and make adjustments accordingly.

Has to be bold next week drop the favourites. Wilson and Burn in particular cannot start. Miggy I can see the logic, but there's no way he can justify the other two. A heap of pressure on this next game now, but we also need the players who are getting these chances to actually finish them.

Think today will make him realise Wilson is no longer no.1 to start the next games. Almiron needs a rest. Burn has to be left out too.

That’s nuts though, some of us have seen this for weeks. He’s Eddie Howe, we’re just little mugs on the Internet.

Showed loyalty to the 11 that have mostly got us to where we are at the minute but needs to change it up next game. Miggy, Wilson and Burn have been out of form for weeks now and look like they need a rest.

I'm not going to be mad at certain lineup changes not being made today. It's Man City. I'm fine with us not experimenting against arguably the best team in the league.

League Cup final and today out of the way, I will admit I'll be starting to ask what exactly it will take if Howe is not experimenting to some extent next Sunday. At minimum giving Wilson a rest.

Ofcourse we have. We all have. But today, his loyalty to Wilson has cost us in some way. Isak looked more threatening.

This Wilson thing is now a major issue, really disappointed in Howe TBH.

There are changes I’d like to see,

Burn <> Targett

Miggy <> Murphy (I actually wouldn’t expect much from Murphy but Almiron could do with a rest and Murphy’s sub performances recently have shown he offers something different and that he’s in form

Trippier <> Manquillo (if only to give Trippier a breather)

All of the above changes are arguable, especially as Targett is coming back after a long injury lay-off. If he’d been match fit I’ve have played Targett weeks ago though. What’s not arguable and hasn’t been for weeks is:

Wilson <> Isak

It absolutely has to happen next week

Big decisions didn't work out today, for sure.

Kept faith with Wilson who rewarded him with an abject all-round display capped off with an embarrassingly bad attempt on the big chance that fell to him. Then Isak looked really sharp when he did some on.

Neither Gordon or Almiron offered anything going forward after ASM was unlucky to be dropped.

Burn got another game at LB and looked again very much like a big CB playing out of position with the way Foden just glided by him.

That said, I'm not sure Targett is fit enough to start and there was a definite logic in playing two wingers who excel at pressing. Starting Wilson was the only decision that was really bad IMO.

Next week will tell us a lot. I can see why he didn't want to change much before a cup final or an away game with Man City but we've been toothless for a while and with two games we'll be favoured in coming up we need to figure it out.

No issue with Howe other than the loyalty to Wilson and to a lesser extent Almiron. If today doesn't justify removing the former from the starting line-up I'll be questioning his judgement.

We're still playing mostly decent football, we just can't put the fucking thing in the net.

It’s football. It’s about scoring goals.

 consistently getting huge chances to score goals but missing them suggests that not everything is wrong then, but you already know that.

You were playing that tune weeks ago. 3 games and 3 2-0 defeats later you can surely see there’s a massive issue?

Never said everything was wrong. We’ve got a fine team in places. He’s getting all of the big calls wrong now, though. Wilson over Isak, not giving Almiron a rest. ASM once again benched in the type of game he’s perfect for…

Too many players off the boil at the moment, Miggy's purple patch elevating us above our station, but with him inevitably dropping off we needed one of our strikers to pick up the slack. Tripper looks a shadow of his pre-world cup self, Bruno has struggled recently too. For all the slating Murphy and Lascelles have got they have actually come in and done a job, maybe we do need to give some fringe players some time on the pitch and rest some obviously jaded, possibly complacent starters.

To Liverpool, Man United, and Man City? Nah, not really.

The finishing is a big issue, but I don't buy for a second that the issue extends beyond that, or that the remedy is anything other than better finishing, perhaps with fatigue being a factor. Wilson now needs to be dropped for sure, the other calls are totally justifiable.
