The wider management of the squad has been dire since we got promoted for a host of reasons, and it's got worse since Rafa left. Last year we had around £100,000 a week being spent on absolutely nothing, with Atsu and Saivet out in the car park kicking a tennis ball around, unable to actually feature in the team. Then there's the likes of Yedlin, Muto, Lejeune, Ki, Lazaar being sold for buttons or being paid-off, either because: selling them when their value was high(er) was impractical; they've been bad signings on account of shopping in the bargain bins; or simply mismanaged. The same will apply to the likes of Gayle, Shelvey and Ritchie - all of whom we could've made a profit on and found upgrades for; not to mention those I was talking about in the Longstaff thread, whose potential ability (and profit) has been slashed on account of Steve Bruce being employed at the club. Don't even mention recruitment via the academy. The whole operation is disconnected and generally just botched by people who haven't got a clue. Laugable thing is that I would get rid of over 70% of that squad, but that's where we are the past 15 years, now and a fair likelihood for the forseeable also. How anyone can actually go and watch a match I do not know. The bloke has openly carried out a slow death operation on all aspects of the club alongside openly taking the piss, and the sheep still turn up. This is Bruce's 3rd year in charge and he's had enough time to bring in his own players so he really has no excuse if he's not got the right players to do the job he wants. No one told him to waste resources on Krafth or Hendrick. Or Lewis and Joelinton for that matter. He has got backing, if he's producing rotten football, it has to be on him.
