And what did West Brom fans make of Rondon? Coventry fans of Bellamy? Our fans of Perez? People are fucking dolts, generally speaking.
Hanshithispantz
You would hope Wood (if we're after him) would be 1 of 2 strikers we're signing this window like. If he's the only striker we sign then we're still a Wilson injury away from being relegated

West Brom fans spoke highly of Rondon and Perez was liked by the majority. He’s absolutely crap. For the cost we’d have to pay, there are literally hundreds of better options. My feeling is yes as squad player, no as a a direct fill in for Wilson. That will see us go down imo. Fair. I just love a big lump, Ironside bossed it yesterday. SUPERTOON
Fans of other clubs are usually the best barometer when judging potential signings tbh. Just look at us when no one believed us about Bruce.

Oregon_Geordie
I know little about Wood, but if he's joined by a younger, more skilful, pacy forward Id get him. Be nice to have someone to hold up the ball, bully the defender and maybe get on the end of crosses. He's a unit, which we've not had in a while. Horses for courses right now. 15m Max. Mazzy
In my opinion Wood and Cantwell are fine, that's all, just fine, nothing more than that. If we'd had got them both in the Sumner I think we'd be in a better position than we are now. HOWEVER, with where we are in the table we really do need better than these two and I don't think they are good enough to keep us in the league now, specifically Wood, we need a better striker than him to get us out of this problem. Hanshithispantz
Like as much as I think it could be a decent signing we essentially want him to play the next couple of games and then be replaced by a new striker and/or Wilson for the remainder of the season. After that he would hopefully just be a plan b when we're struggling to beak a side down.

Like a cheap pickup, last 20 mins, hold up play etc, I can live with. 17m and him starting games would freak me out Basically this, aye.
Rich
https://theniche-cache.com/football/2021/6/3/chris-woods-2020-21-premier-league-season-in-review?format=amp Decent write up here from not that long ago, if anyone’s bothered.
Thiago
Cantwell is one of those players I could see revelling in the pressure and atmosphere or tanking and it getting abusive.
Hhtoon
A 32 year old Woods would still likely go for 10m or so to a Champ team in a couple of years. It's not like the 17m now is totally sunk.
NWMag
For me, I am trying to think of strikers who are good enough, available, and would be willing to come to us right now - I can’t think of any really
The Merse
I would be surprised if Burnley let him go as he is pretty much their main man - would be a very effective signing and provide the focal point we desperately need

I can see them wanting more shiny players. Imagine the sponsorship deals we will get when you land at jeddah airport, get off the plane and see a giant chris wood advert. buzz
In our current predicament I think Woods is as good as we're likely gonna get in terms of a striker to come in and rival/cover for Wilson's hamstrings. Always going to have to overpay with Saudi ownership, January window and being 19th. Both him and Cantwell could also be seen as signings with half an eye on the Championship as well
Thiago
Woods is a classic number 9 and we need that. The fact we often go direct and need someone who can hold it up means I'm all for it. City signed a lot of 'unsexy' players in the early days and I'd be happy for us to do similar.
peder
Cantwell and Wood would make me cry, not hard.
Ikon
Is this stuff coming from Luke? I doubt Trippier was thinking of relegation plodder players when he said that he's very very excited.
Collage
If our ”attacking play” is going to look like it did yesterday we’ll need a big, strong striker to aim crosses at, I guess.
Ikon
Not sure about his availability or willingness, but someone like Dzeko would be a much much better choice. Doubt it would be impossible to get him. Either way, there are tons of other better options than Wood.
Menace
Dzeko has played practically every game for Inter, no chance

Ola1949
Chris Wood? Howe underwhelming. Been so excited with the players we've been linked with until now. Anyway he's got a groin problem so won't be available straight away. Plus can't see Burnley selling him to us any Howe.
