Kieran Trippier: has a chance to play against Everton (Howe)

It’s fucked, like they’re a hard club to turn down because almost guaranteed success.

But we don’t have to sell, and Trippier may not mind staying either but if that does turn out to be the case, how unsettled is he going to be?

But let’s look at the obvious, no official bids come in for a player unless the back channeling has happened first and a player has indicated they want to go.

Trippier wants out for whatever reason so we should just get on with it. No player is bigger than the club.

But it’s worrying that basically our club captain in all but official title wants out, it raises concerns about how things are going behind the scenes.

Bayern would be a very, very difficult club to turn down.  The number of clubs who are arguably bigger can be counted on one hand - maybe with a finger or two to spare.

(I do find the German league boring as fuck to watch mind).

I’d have no issue at all with Trippier’s head being turned, especially at his age and given how this season might turn out.  Potentially win a league title and the European Cup, or hope we can put together a run for an FA Cup win and a top seven finish?  No brainer

Been away all weekend so only just realised the rumoured fee is so low. Anything below £20m can get lost tbh.

Hopefully this pushes their Mukiele deal through.

That’s £8m more than we paid and he’s two years closer to retirement.  We’d be getting just over half that would be my guess

He left  consistently top4, Champions League regulars to come to tin pot Toon in a the midst of a relegation battle.

I’m only suggesting I won’t criticise the bloke if he goes.  I’d rather he stays, but he shouldn’t receive a slagging off if he does go

Totally agree. It'll all come out in the wash.

Second guessing his situation and/club strategy on the basis of click bait rumours is a way to fill the void, for some tho.

One of the best players I've seen in B&W, that's for sure.

The Bayern president confirmed they are looking at two right backs to it all tally’s up.

that being said, they walked away from Palhina in the summer when they couldn’t agree a fee, I expect the same to happen with Trips. The only thing which makes some sense is a decent fee for us but it doesn’t make sense for Bayern given his age.

So my guess would be we hear noise about this for the rest of the window as Bayern try and force our hands but trips stays.

Think they agreed a deal for Paulinha and then Fulham pulled the plug when they didn’t get a replacement

Fair play, I thought they couldn’t agree the fee.

I still don’t see how we will be able to agree a fee though, the price we would need would surely be more than they would be willing to pay.

This board and indeed our club is blessed to have someone so skilled in the art of Jinx as you, good Doctor. Thank you for subtlety ensuring Tripps stays with us for another 2 years

Ok, here is my 2 cents.

People keep on banging on about Trippier staying to coach, being good around the squad etc. However there is no indication that he is going to go down that path, and if he is, if it is with us. A year ago people were saying the same about Ritchie, and now with FFP being tight, people are realising that having him on the books in terms of wages is possibly holding us back.

If we are looking to improve in this window then we have only a few sellable players at the club we could get some money from, these are Trippier, Wilson, Joelinton, Bruno, Isak, and Botman. The last 3 are the ones people think/hope have a long term future here. Trippier is coming to the end of his career. We already know that he can’t cope with 2+ games a week. In fact for a few months now people have been saying his performances have dropped a bit, and his set pieces have been an issue for longer.

With Wilson, yeah he is great when he’s fit, but he’s always in and out of fitness. Like Trippier he is coming towards the end of his career, and at a time when we should be looking to replace him.

I’m not sure what the club are thinking, but from my perspective, I’d rather lose be losing Trippier, and Wilson now, then lose either of the other 3, plus Tonali in the summer.

This also isn’t an Ashley situation where you know we are not going to replace either of those players, ok we might have to wait until the summer because of others clubs being reluctant to sell, but we will replace them. In the case of Trippier we arguably already have.

Agreed. It still sucks though.

He went on to say this morning, it was rafas fault as he left the bins out and he was taking no responsibility for all the Greggs wrappers blowing across the training ground.

Tbf those bins wouldv taken some gales to be blown away, what with players cooling down in them.

What figure would that be. We bought him for £12m if we got more than that for him 2 years later it's a no brainer.

He could play for another 3 seasons in the German league. Livramento would be keeping him out of our starting line up next season if we bought a lb.

I think we must have a target in sight in a more critical position and trips going is just part of the collateral. I doubt that we would just sell for the sake of it and he is on £140k per week.

If we got our money back and he wants to go then it’s ok I suppose. I think Bayern are looking for cheap deals though. I’ve not seen any figures mentioned yet, other than them preferring a loan.
