Nobody
So no chance of him being involved at the weekend? Are we going to have to start Ritchie or Dummett st LB?
Erikse
As much as I want him back as soon as possible, we are proving that we can put in very good performances without him. Obviously he would be better than Jacob Murphy or Krafth at right back, but I don't think he has that insane influence on our peformances anymore, as some were arguing back in january. Wouldn't be disatrous if we sold him in the summer tbh. Our set pieces has still been great despite him being out, and we've been keeping clean sheets for a change. I know that. He will be 34 next season. We have one of the the oldest squads in the Prem. He has high wages. Was important last season and at the start of this one, but the future is what matters. Erikse
Just like Almiron was key to our 4th place finish last season. So we should keep him and live in the past. Or? Edited April 13, 2024 by Erikse

Not at all keen for him to leave, but he's given us his greatest service already and helped get us to a position where we can cope without him both physically and mentally - which didn't used to be the case. Let's just see what happens in the summer and respect whatever the outcome is.

And I know that it's not BECAUSE of his injury that we are performing like we are. But I wouldn't be too concerned if he went, and we are atleast showing that he's not as important as Bruno, Gordon, Isak etc. I would put Livra on par with him atm, they are just different players. Would be way worse if he went last summer. Wouldn't hate it if he stays for another season either though. It's just the wages that it would free up, which is the biggest thing for me. I just don't see him having the same impact next season as he has had in the past, but maybe he will prove me wrong if we keep him. Upthemags
Might draw some ire, but this is for the best. Trips was shockingly poor on the defensive end for a good 3 months before his injury. Happy to keep on with the current squad and their momentum.
Yorkie
Trippier walks back into the team, man. He was obscenely good before the squad took that absolute bruising in December, when he started faltering, as most did. He was very much over that spell by the time he most recently exited the side, too.

I wouldn't be in that school of thought but 33 years old it's nice to know we can win games 1. Differently and 2 without him. Got to plan for life without him in the end he either goes in the summer for a fee to free up ffp wiggle room or we retain him and likely don't offer him an extension the following summer. But if there was a scenario where we could keep Bruno and still bring in the new players we want by cobbling together some financial freedom by moving on Trippier along with Almiron, Wilson and the Hendricks and Hayden's, I think it would be the thing to do. I think Livramento, Krafth, Murphy and "new CB with ability to cover" would be decent enough for next season if it meant we didn't need to demolish the heart of our midfield. Not an easy choice, but it's the sort of difficult decision we are being forced to look at. Personally I'd be delighted if Trippier retired here and joined the backroom staff, but FFP is pushing all clubs to this kind of psychopathic mindset. Homegrown kids and loyal servants are the main kinds of player to ditch. It's shit.

Lush Vlad
Gordon’s corners were brilliant today. But I do think with the tactics we employed for them, Viccario being rooted to his line and the fact we had 16 (sixteen) corners. Trippier would have caused havoc and all. He is still joint top of the assist charts and he has missed quite a few games, played plenty half fit and had that horrendous run of form. Not too shabby. I always feel like absence makes the heart grow fonder with injured players. But somehow, a few (one poster, maybe) seem to be going the opposite way. Tripps is world class and we’ll be a better team with him back in it.

Erikse
Another worry with older players is the fact that they get injured more often, and each injury can impact their abilities more than it will with a younger player. Look at De Bruyne for example, compared to last season. If we keep Trippier, he may not be able to play with our intensity many games in a row overt time. It will at the very least be harder for him for each passing year. Edited April 13, 2024 by Erikse

Unless we are viewing everything through the pissing FFP lens, again. In which case, maybe we would look to move him on. But there are still loads of first team/fringe players I’d look to sell before him.
