No matter how pissed you are, how stupid do you have to be to bring a lass back to your gaff when you have a ring camera that the Mrs can access[emoji38]

How can I check whether a wife has access to a ring camera on a front door ?

Get your ‘friend’ to bring another lass home and then check the state of his messages the next morning.

Regardless of pure numbers in terms of when assists were and weren't coming, our attacking play from front to back has ran largely through Trippier since the day he walked in the door until this summer, the combinations down the right hand side with Bruno and the right sided forward were Plan A for how we got the ball up the field. His absence is the primary reason we're now struggling to score goals imo (not that I'm advocating for him back in the team, it seems he has made his bed and we have to deal with it).

Very much agree, his importance to the teams general play has been understated. Even his ability to cross from open play is a huge asset. The issue is even if he gets his head straight, he’s 34 and in the premier league, he isn’t going to be able to cover the same ground, it will lead to gaps and mistakes, I think we’ve started to see that.

For me, he’s still the best RB at the club on his day, but you’re not going to get 2 games a week out of him at his 2022 form, that’s gone now.  Whatever happens transfer wise in January, Howe needs to figure out how the team can better function without him.

Shocking really to think a young lad basically and only 34 may not be able to hack it much longer in the premier .

I agree, I made the comment since some are using the "10 assists" like they were back in jan. So if assists is everything now, he also dried up on those.

I used assists, an isolated stat, as a loose counter to the suggestion that he, our most productive creator for the last couple of years, cost us Europe with a number of errors that will have been dwarfed by the positives he brought during the season.

34 isn't young in football terms - it is very much in the 'veteran in twilight days of career' period.

I think the physical decline was noticeable even before everything dropped off a cliff due to the personal issues. Like no doubt he was hugely influential in our game and still playing well, but you could still see it coming on the horizon IMO.

Agree that it's been a huge issue trying to replace what he brought to our game. But this is always going to be an issue with relying on older, experienced players.

In terms of getting a fee the only option is Saudi now. Really hope we are pushing for that with him.

Don't think any other European club is doing anything other than taking his wages off us, if we're lucky.

Sure, he was essential for us until October ish. Maybe some games after that aswell, but we had strong indications that things were about to change with him back in jan.

The Premier League is extremely competitive, and because of that small changes for the worse can have a massive impact. On top of that there's an increase in injuries, and each one will impact you more and more.

I still think Trippier is the best RB I've seen in B&W by a margin, and I'm happy to say that the club was all the better for him signing - he was a genuine catalyst and his quality was ridiculously obvious.

He's let himself (and the club) down badly over the last year or so.  That doesn't change my view that he's this generation's Brian Kilcline and one of the most important signings in our history - I just wish he'd went to Bayern in January and he'd left us with pretty much nothing but fond memories (even with the Nov-Dec 2023 ricks that happened every game).  I think both positions are supportable - great signing and a class player for most of his time here, but has let us down at the end though not enough to poison my general vibe about him.

But he needs to go in Jan.

1 in 17 was a bit simplistic, but it was quite common that his assist count coincided somewhat with the form of his general play (especially in terms of set pieces). At his best form he would allways produce lots of assists, because he would be unstoppable in every part of his game.

I looked it up, and if you go back to the start of november and throughout the month last year in this thread, you'll see that people were commenting on his horrible performances through weeks. It started more than a month before december, in that "1 in 17" period. Some put it down to fatigue, which is very possible, mind.

I recall that his last "peak performance" game was in october last year in that 4-0 win vs Palace, and after that his form plummeted. He just wasn't actively losing us games until december.

Tbf he said they appeared to still be together at whatever match it was at the time. Which might well have been the case in public until she decided to fuck it off.

Many of us pointed out in January that he was going to be 34 this summer. We had a decent bid from Bayern and we didn't take it. I was really surprised that we didn't do that deal, even some of the Bayern commentators thought they were crazy trying to sign him. It might have been part of the reason why Staveley and her hubby were moved on, they were not ruthless enough when it came to deals of this sort.

Eddie would have wanted him here also. He doesn’t seem to be ruthless enough when it comes to letting players leave with some value. See Wilson. We are going to have to recycle players to improve our lot as painful as that may be. It’s what growing clubs do.

Staveley basically took her instructions from Eddie, at least that's how it seems. That worked well for us early on tbf, but it put us in a load of bother when PSR caught up with us.

I remember thinking what a professional he was, and that he was bound to retire here and join the coaching team [emoji38]

It was only a couple of months or so ago Howe and Tindall were doing an interview together and both agreeing he was the one most likely to make a go of management. Gave me hope he was back on track at the time.
