Just looking, and assuming he misses the rest of the season he’ll have played 71 times in three seasons. Woodgate played 37 in half the time. Absolutely woeful record.

Seriously doubt he was mismanaged this time (the issue may have been the original mismanagement last season). I imagine the issue here is more to do with Botman’s body

My issue is how they handled the injuries last season.  It was clear he was playing severely injured in at least one of his games last season and he looked to be carrying something for months.

 

Hopefully this surgery sorts out his other knee and he can then have a full pre season for next season.

Same knee as this, I think?  As in the opposite to the ACL op. 

 

For all we know, they have taken their time with bringing him back so as to not rush him after so long out.  He would have had scans and physio etc.  Then by the sounds of it, something has gone in training when he was about to come back and play.

 

Feel for him.  His career is going the wrong way and it's not like he's a kid any more.  25 now and he'll end up sitting out almost a season and a half by the time he plays again.

I more meant is it the same injury that Eddie was referring to in that embedded post? From what our ITK friend has said, it sounded like he had more or less recovered from the ‘knock’ Eddie was speaking about, then something else, more significant, happened in training, resulting in needing an op.

He does, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's too serious.

 

Sounds like he could be back this season, but we may well start preparing him for preseason.
