I don’t really care but it’s not a smart move.

I doubt many others will publicly do something like this because they know how it will look to the fans.

We know they are best mates. I don’t expect Botman to be one that rejected Isak like some others in the squad may have.  But if Botman cares about his rep among the fans he shouldn’t have done that.

I rarely put my feelings into players. But even I’m side eyeing Botman for that. Lads only got 2 years on his contract himself.

Honestly lads, just take a fucking breath. A current player said goodbye and good luck to one of his best mates. Who gives a fuck?

The emotional age on this board must be about 12.

The bloke who pretends to be ITK going around telling people they're acting like they're twelve.

If someone in your workplace leaves, you'd likely wish them well if you got on with them previously, I've done it many times even if them leaving created additional workload or stress for me in the short term.

Football is a profession to these lads, they don't have the same partisan mindset that fans do.

Yes, this exactly the same as that. Well done.

Why not send him a message, or give him a call? It's been done publicly. I don't think he needs to be remonstrated too much for it, but it clearly is a public statement that trivializes the complete twattery we've had to deal with as a club heading into a Champions League campaign. Also, fuck Liverpool and fuck Isak.

I think liking a post and making a heartfelt public post wishing him the best are slightly different levels tbh. It's all performative and intentional because like said it could easily be done off the record.

But I'm mostly bored of him because he's a crock.

Yeah this is just about where I am.

Don't think it's worth getting angry about, but I have enough pride as a Newcastle supporter that I also think he's a tosser for going out of his way to do that considering what Isak did to the club I support, its staff, players, and fans. I'd worry if I ever became apathetic to stuff like that and I had no fire in my belly as a supporter tbh, but each to their own.

It’s not the same though.

Nobody cares if he loves Isak and he went to his house to pop champagne for the move.

It’s the public congratulations that is weird.  It’s a public declaration that he stands with Isak when he knows the fans do not.  And some of his team mates too.

Just because people don't take the same view as going doesn't mean they lack emotional maturity.

Considering the drama its caused behind the scenes judging by the media reports by local journos - not really the smartest of moves is it? Doubt he really gives a shit though let's be honest.

It's boring telling fans how to feel when they are well within their rights to be pissed off about this approach too.

Botman would love to play for Liverpool, let's not pretend otherwise. They're not all Burn's and Bruno's.

We probably need to stop thinking players "ONLY want Newcastle" and get used to players wanting to leave.

Notoriously emotionally mature....football supporters.

All of us care deeply about a ball being kicked around, the lack of self-awareness man. We're all bairns where this stuff's concerned, we're indoctrinated, it's too late.

Aye im fairly cold to this stuff. It is just job for these boys. While I don’t personally care about it.  I don’t like what it represents, the messaging. It’s disrespectful to the fans and perhaps his own team mates and manager too.

Stay fit, sign a new deal nobody will care.

Just really unnecessary really isn't it. It is a public show of support, obviously they are close. Just needs to be a bit more Savvy, Botman knows the drama all this has caused and he will not footballers posts and likes are scrutinised massively.

As many have said this show of support could have been done privately. However, overall I don't see it that much of a big deal.

While this is all true - part of being a professional is respecting your current team and fans.

I think it's perfectly fine to have an opposing view about ought just discuss it like adults and leave the calling People 12 out of it unless it's an exceptional circumstance such as Isak being a cunt.

It's a bit Shan of Sven in my book but it is what it is at the end of the day. He's free to do what he likes and we are free to have our views on it.

I would not be surprised that he would not renew his contract and ask to leave next summer.

And I do wonder why others wouldn’t think the same after reading his post. It’s kinda obvious that he feels what Isak did is fine, and thus sent his best wishes through public. I immediately got a scouser friend telling me this is the proof that Isaks industrial action does have grounds and that’s why he has some teammates supporting him.

This won’t end well.

It'll be fine, Eddie will sort this out.
