If I was a Newcastle player, I'd know I was at the right club seeing Botman signing a new contract. It shows we back our players when they are down as long as we believe in them. He's class, when available. I'd say Thiaw is more likely to end up a sub than Botman, even though I love him too. He wouldn't get into Arsenal or city's 11 if they have defenders fully fit, also he would probably start for his country. I really feel for him, the injuries he's had have hindered many a career in the past, I do hope he can get back to his best but you do worry he might breakdown before he gets a good run of games, hopefully he gets a break so he can string a good amount of games together until end of season. Hmm, not sure about his country, he could easily surpass VVD soon although I don't know who else he's competing with. I mean, you've name the best 2 clubs in the country there so it's not too shameful that he wouldn't necessarily start there. He could play at that level though, that was my main point. The problem/doubt is if the injuries has made him decline.

Absolutely. Unless he is completely incompetent in which case we're in trouble.

Well there is always that, but if we've managed to appoint another dud DOF then it might be time to call it a day with PIF and take our chances with the sharks circling from the USA. The way I'd hope it would work would be as follows: 1) Sit down and review current contract length, wages, terms. 2) Review medical recommendations (assuming a report was requested, I'd hope so) regarding short and long term prognosis. 3) Call in Eddie and discuss his thoughts regarding an extension, needs, value, future plans for him if any. 4) Make the call to either offer an extension, try and sell or let his contract run down. Lush Vlad
Much more like it. He usually plays Haaland pretty well. The defence was decent for the most part. Yet we still conceded 2. Tough gig.

cubaricho
Dude was good today and showed what we miss when he's not around. But like Vlad says, tough gig. To put in that kind of performance and still concede two is brutal.
MagSA
Looked like his old self at times. Read the game well and managed Haaland (who was quite anonymous but nevertheless) Hall pips him for my MoM
