Barnes was definitely the target man for Burnley. Wood was basically a poacher with an aerial threat.

Wood has won the most aerial duels in the league this season, though, which suggests he has been used as a target man to me. It's his passing and close control in transitional play that generally let's him down.

To be fair to him, Chelsea are pretty much the best team at picking players second balls from any kind of poor touch.

He was poor today but it was a very though task.

It's the struggling to pass it 5 yards that was unacceptable today

Agree. He did misplace almost every pass though. Even simple ones. Not sure what was going on. Wonder what his passing percentage was.

Completed 6 out of 17 passes, 35%

His contributions to our run are  highly appreciated but he really needs to pick up his game, he works hard but lacks so much basic footballing ability, can't pass, can't shoot, can't dribble and can't hold up the ball properly on the ground, i guess years of playing for Burnley does that for you.

Thought yesterday was his poorest game since he arrived. Nothing stuck or went to one of our players all game.  Hopefully being up against a defence more his level on Thursday will bring something back.

Going up against that Chelsea back lines a different kettle of fish as you say but he’s played full 90 for the last 10 games or so.
