sunderland - League derbies are back

Sunderland coming up is another example of refs being said off, it's the Saudis wanting them up you see. It can't be down to having good luck as only the mags have luck on their side!

I’m happy for my 73 year old father whose supported them all his live and excepts this may be the last season he sees them in the premiership so he reading himself to a season ticket. He really does deserve it.

It’s funny because he also watches all our matches and we will talk on the phone for ages about each others game every week. I now live in Leicester but came up to watch the game with him this weekend as he was watching it alone, on tv that is.  He knows we’re gonna hammer them and they’re probably going to come straight back down, just gonna enjoy the ride he says.

That's brilliant. I completely get it.  Don't trash me here NO but I wish him the best. Is it the worst thing in the world to have them lower table and two derbies a year?

We've got a bigger game tomorrow than any derby I can think of, one of a few this season alone that have been. When we've got nothing else (Ashley) or its competitive (2years around the Millennium) it is.

 

 

 

Agreed - it’s not THE fixture by a long chalk.  If I was asked to list my top 20 NUFC games in my lifetime, I’m not sure if Sunderland would feature in one of the matches on the list

Their result yesterday will feel eminently worse if we don’t get champions league. I feel quite relaxed about them coming up because when we’re face them we’re going to be even stronger. We also have a manager who will set us up perfectly for it rather than idiots like Pardew who played into their hands all the time.

£190M for coming up I'm reading from some of the MLF's, these could be a real threat next seysun, they will think nothing of throwing £40M at player recruitment (£20m after paying for Lee big Fee) & will rightly expect to be challenging for the European places, prob not CL in their 1st seysun back but min Europa leygue imo

We're competing at the top end of the Premier league these days. We're going into todays game needing a win to guarantee Champions League Football. Every match is meaningful regardless of who it's against.

 

Playing 2 games against a team of hammer throwers who'll try to kick us off the park an an attempt to appease their rabid fanbase and level up what will be a huge gap in ability won't make our season any more interesting. When we beat them last January it was more shrug of the shoulders stuff than any kind of euphoria.

 

The risks outweigh the advantages these days.

 

Gor to say mind I've been genuinely surprised at the amount of NUFC fans who are glad they're back up. If the roles were reversed I doubt you'd find many, if any Sunderland fans sharing the same sentiment and tbf to them, that's as it should be.
