The last game being 2016 (a draw). The one after being that win.

Before that they beat us, what, six times in row? Some of our utter melts saw it as our god given right we’d just have to turn up to turn them overZ

Their best season ever, our worst in a long time.

Normality will be restored next season.

And this time last year we had an easy 6 points etc etc......

Fair play to them they got more points than us, there is no point moaning about it.

It will be interesting to see how long they last in Europe and the impact on their league form.

The only side who can stop them is Bournemouth.

Will it?

We gonna be fighting for Europe next season?

Can't see it myself.

Players heads have turned.

Major squad surgery needed. But not possible due to PSR.

Joy.

You have to hold your hands up and say fair play to them. Not too many, certainly in this day and age, come up and get into Europe at the first shout. Blame our players and coaching staff for them beating us twice and finishing 5 points ahead of us. They've players who want to fight for their club and we've far too many spineless cunts in our squad.

The most terrifying bit for me is that I dont just see this as a one off for them, and a one off for us.

Looking at both clubs, theyre potentially ahead of us now, they'll definitely be looking forward to next season more than we will. Never thought this would happen this quick.

Yes, must be terrifying seeing them equal their highest ever finish.

They'll get relegated next season with the added load of Europa.

Far more likely that we’ll be relegated.

As I said in another thread, they've done really well this season and have deserved where they have finished.

Football is always about peaks and troughs - we don't have a god given right to finish about them all the time. If anything it should spur us on next year to make sure it doesn't happen again.

They took advantage of a terrible premier league this season. Fair play to them. It’ll be tough for them next season

No confidence at all we’ll close the gap at all.

They’ve got

- a setup that has a great talent ID track record and get deals done at sensible prices.

- a bunch of talent they can sell on for big profit, if needed.

- real characters in the team that gets them through games they’d otherwise lose.

- a fantastic defensively-minded coach that grinds them through points.

- pragmatic sense of what the team needs and when.

- an underdog spirit.

They will be able to attract a good calibre of player with European football and their networking.

Europe coupled with a better home shirt than ours and I can see quite a few of us defecting over, and you can quote me on that - RTG, Football Away Days, The Chronicle etc etc.

You'd have thought this sort of patter would be kept on the quiet after everything that was spouted last summer.

Yep, anyone saying that they'll suffer from 2nd season syndrome or that Europe will kill them is just huffing copium. It's far more likely that they establish themselves as a decent top half team amongst the other spreadsheet shaggers like Brighton and Brentford.

I'm concerned about next season tbh, look at the fucking state of the teams in the EL semis the last 2 years and look at the teams who will qualify next year. Who would you trust to stop them winning the bloody thing?

Juve, Leverkausen, Marseille most likely. Is the Europa seeded?

Not sure that they get away with that much spawn next season, but fair play to them.

Looking forward to them taking 200,000 from Ponteland Airport already, marra.

No it isn't. Not even close.

Review this at the start of next season if they’ve added some real quality with the pulling power of Europe.
