Would have been shite seeing them make a start like this if we were somehow still circling the drain under Ashley.

But that's not how things are

I'm bemused at their start but I never worry about what might happen in a game of football

You can do well in the first 9 games and not have it last TBF. Le Bris does seem a bit less of a joke manager than Phil Brown though (and Hull did stay up from here).

Anyway Osula will come on as a sub in the Derby and score a hat trick so no worries.

Another one in the eye for the "i want them back up for the derbies" perverts I suppose.

It’s not necessarily Makem-masochism that makes some like derbies. Or a ‘one North East’ kind of begrudging support. Some just like the feeling of getting their blood-up for a good scrap (historically sometimes quite literally) and playing them is one of the games that does that.

Or it's better than previous - talking about the weekend at work on Monday morning and not bothering to cover football results with makems cos there was no comparison to be made and you likley sound like a patronising cunt if you bring up a decent win in league 1 or whatever. Bit of fun to be had now

I do miss the banter and listening to the leg-ends on Metro back in the day. Last lived in Newcastle 19 years ago.

Despite the fact I just gave them their flowers for their start to the season, I'd like to declare that I'm fully in the "I hope they get liquidated and the Bungalow of Light is knocked down and turned into flats" camp as opposed to the "awww, I love the derbies me man and its good for the region" camp

I just can't fathom how anyone who would rather see them hold their own in the PL just so we can play them twice a year (and potentially drop points) as opposed to watching them lose to tin pot dross and burning through 2 managers a season

Call it a camp, call it an opinion, call it a way of thinking, whatever, it's a figure of speech. My point stands, they're a wretched horde of goblins and I hope their club gets flushed out of existence.

I've been fairly nonplussed about their start because I've had the mindset that they'll drop off eventually. That was until this week when I heard the first "mind the gap" in the office. Tongue in cheek or not, it made me feel physically ill. They'd better start losing again, and by loads of goals every week
