Aside from 'SMB' (usually in direct response to the mackems doing something tinpot) or 'Have you ever seen a mackem in x' (which serves as reminder to the differing Europeans statuses of the 2 clubs), Newcastle fans don't tend to mention them much in day to day discourse. Here's a fun flag related experiment for them, take 100 random Newcastle flags and 100 random sunlun flags, now tell me how many of those flags have 'SMB' or 'FTM' emblazoned on them. He was very complimentary of the fans and the city but one thing he noticed is that he was in a pub full of Newcastle fans and Bournemouth v Sunderland was on the TV. They are so bitter and desperate that they have resorted to celebrating what is actually a good NUFC result, in a competition that they can only dream of participating in. They are crying with laughter because we got a draw with one of the worlds greatest teams. That thread is a good indicator of the gulf in attitudes between the two sets of fans.
