Sad bastards, most of them weren't even alive the last time they played a game of European football and they're taking the piss after that result last night? Pathetic.

I was about to type that I hope the atmosphere is as good for the game against them,  as it was last night. But then remembered previous games. It is likely to be better. We’ll need the team to do their part but it will be electric initially and, with the slightest bit of encouragement, throughout. I can’t wait.

Copium in full flow. If we'd hung on for the win they'd still claim to be delighted because Barca will stick at least three past us over there, or something similar.

Wouldn't be surprised if their coping mechanism after their game on Sunday was "well at least the mags got knocked out".

This is not normal behaviour. They are not sound of mind.

The fact that one of them claims our draw will 'help him sleep better at night' is pathetic at best and unhinged at worst.

I'm sure I speak for overwhelming majority of Newcastle fans who react in the following way to sunderland results:

Sunlun lose: "waheeey ya cunts, get it up ya!" *carry on with day as normal

Sunlun draw: *shoulder shrug

Sunlun win: "ah ya bastards!"  *carry on with day as normal

If anybody feels better because their local rivals drew against Barcelona after they lost against Port Vale it certainly says something about the relative values to them of the game of football on the one hand and a bit of good old fashioned tribalism on the other

Last nights match thread now 'parsnipped' approaching 1500 replies, more than any other thread on the first page. That's more discussion about us than on a thread that's been there since February 11th titled 'RLB'.

It could be said Sunderland's record against Barcelona is better than ours, never having lost to them.

The same could be said of Gateshead, West Allotment Celtic and the Dog and Duck Sunday morning second eleven.

They've such a small time attitude like.  Couldn't even complete the thought "I cant believe they really think this" before I realised its mackems were dealing with and they probably do

Cannot imagine any other set of fans even pretending to be happy with their rivals competing with Barcelona to get to the Champions League Quarter-Finals.

I'd not be happy if Barcelona even acknowledged their existence or for them to play a Conference League preliminary game at some point in the next 50years.

I know mackematics, mackem logic etc but I hope someone has told him that SJP to Matfen Hall must be only slightly further than the SoS to Durham as the crow flies so asked what does that do to the "Derrim is in Sunderland" view?

I can't imagine how difficult life would be if you were offended to your very core whenever you heard anything outwith the old city walls of Newcastle being referred to as Newcastle. It's always over something so trivial as well.

Do they behave like this with people from other cities? They do realise that it's common practice for people to describe the location of something as "nearby *insert well known city here"?

Or.....

Could it be that it stems from them living a life where they're constantly mistaken for Geordies, sunderland and surrounding towns being described of as "near Newcastle" by outsiders and the fact that Newcastle is the regional hub for nearly everything?

 imagine making a tweet next week like "great night staying in the Blahblah hotel in Barcelona" only to be bombarded by a gang of Real Madrid fans going "YOU FUCKING IDIOT, THE BLAHBLAH HOTEL IS NOT IN BARCELONA, IT IS 5 MILES WEST OF BARCELONA. FUCKING MORON"

I get that it's not within the official boundaries of the City, but hotels tend to associate themselves with the nearest major city or tourist attraction.  it isn't anything new and shouldn't really be a thing to get angry about.  This screenshot is from Matfen Hall's website, are they going to get upset about that next?

You need to get yourself on RTG mate and drop this into their thread about hotels in Boldon being rebadged as Newcastle South
