In this day and age, with the handcuffs on spending and loaded dice for the Eatablishment clubs, the fact we’re beating the system and won a trophy is probably more of an achievement. Get to the Champions League in the same season and that’s a massive bloody nose to the PL and Cartel.

maybe_next_year
https://www.newcastleunited.com/en/news/training-ground-extension-plans-submitted Think the most interesting part is this "as work to identify a new site for a future training facility continues." Sounds like they might be having issues finding a suitable site. Edited 21 hours ago by El Prontonise

I wonder how much money could have eventually been saved if more effort went into finding land over updates to the current place.

I actually cast an eye over our seasons the other day and I guess it depends on the context. Not really easy to compare the state of play now versus 70+ years ago. Purely looking at the end result, when we won the league in 1905 we were also FA Cup runners up. Our 1910 and 1951 FA Cup successes each coincided with a 4th place finish, too. So even discounting any context such as the FFP/PSR restrictions trying to intentially hold us down, it's sure as hell up there. Says it all that you need to go that far back for anything comparable, though.
GeordieT
The Design & Access statement is worth flicking through, the scale of the change is larger than the initial refurbishment. Very little of the existing facilities remain untouched.
Decky
We've done/are doing a lot of work to a site we're planning to leave. I wonder will the current site be given to the womens team when we move or something? Edited 19 hours ago by Decky

Correct 😉 Was up at the rescue this morning and have just filled up the feeders in our garden 😂 🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔 As it happens a regular danger for hogs is getting caught up in netting. Allotments, gardens and, yes, you've guessed it, football goals on sports fields 🙄😱

Stifler
I honestly think the sites they have looked at may not be big enough or even suitable for the new training complex. If they are wanting a mini stadium as part of it, then that would also complicate things. Could you imagine the traffic along Sandy Lane on racing day as well as 5k-10k fans going in to see the women play? The same applies at Woolsington Hall, absolutely no public transport there, aside from a bit of a hike to the Metro station.
