Games like that will do no harm for growing our brand. I've got SocialBlade and not sure when the last figures were posted, but at some point today Newcastle's Instagram followers was 1,564,043 and it's currently on 1,570,219 (and will be interesting to see what it is like later in the day), so over 6,000 gained on the back of that result.

Going back to this, 7 days and 3 wins later, it's currently 1,597,880, so that's 33,800 additional IG followers in that period, which isn't far off 10% of Sunderland's total count.

Today was our 400th Premier League win. We are also closing in on a positive goal difference, currently -6. Passing Everton would also be in reach in a couple of years, especially if they went down this season.

Does anyone know what our cumulative goal difference was during the Ashley era?

Unpopular opinion - The first was better than the second.

Think that's something people who want to sound cool say to be contrary. It was mint but that second is insane man.

Hit the second as sweet as a nut, but I reckon the first was more of an intentional one. Both embarrassed Cech though I reckon.

Always worth sharing this

It is of course another example of Shola being directly involved in a significant or great goal for us. No matter how little his touch was (see also the back heel for Shearer's record breaker)

What happened the Claridge? He just seemingly disappeared, always seemed a decent lad.

Diving back into the archives, on this day in 2014, we beat Cardiff 3 nil at sjp, amidst an otherwise sombre atmosphere.

Prior to the win, we had lost six in a row. Our scorers on the day were Shola, Loic Remy and Steven Taylor.

The goals for Remy & Shola would end up being their final ones for the club.

The game where Pardew was scared to come out of his dugout.
