Another left footed CB? Doubt

While I think it is unlikely, I’ve always found it a bit odd that most football fans don’t think that two left footed centre halves can play together, yet the vast majority of central defences since the change from W-M have had two right footed centre backs

Beat Arsenal and Tottenham with Burn and Botman i believe, while a lefty and righty is ideal, i don't see an issue with players of the same foot playing at CB.

Count me in the could-not-give-the-slightest-shit-what-footedness-our-CBs-are-as-long-as-they're-good-players brigade.

I like Gullit but the level of lies about his Newcastle time is criminal.

1. Said shearer was getting old when he had him (shearer was 29)

2. Said he wanted Shearer to do different things but couldn't specifically say what

3. Said it was a miracle we got to a cup final, despite being there the year before and being recent title challengers before that

4. Claimed he never managed Duncan Ferguson

5. Never mentioned the actual important part in that we couldn't win games of football

6. Lastly, he claims he was right because we were relegated shortly after.

7. He also said that SBR wanted to sell Shearer. Which is also false.

Number 6 was astonishing we literally got champions league the season after he left and got relegated 10 years later

in fairness with no4 I think he just confused. So weird no one pulled him up on it considering 2 weeks ago Ferguson was on the podcast talking about the Sunderland game

the only push back was from Ian Wright saying Shearer scored 5 in a game after he left so he obviously still had it in him

Shame the old man only went on to bag another 120 goals after gullit left.

Yes his mobility had went after his injuries but Robson worked on that straight away by buying Bellamy to do his running.

It took almost 2 1/2 years after gullit left to get CL.

That’s not really relevant tbf the point is it was around 10 years after he left that we got relegated. That doesn’t make him right or prove his point

Some of his stuff was incoherent and not to do with language.

He was asked several times what his problem was with Shearer and couldn't answer. Just some random comparison to Mark Hughes who was 5 years older.

He's not really said anything offensive there but we've had a few that struggled and had bit of sour grapes after leaving. But ultimately we were always proved right in the fact they never went on to do anything better post nufc?

Souness would slags us off all the time but didn't manage again after us did he?

Gulitt managed Feynoord and La Galaxy but was crap at both. Pardew faded into obscurity after failing at palace and west brom. Dalgleish had one more poor stint at Liverpool. Etc etc.

People in the media have put the boot in over the years but when old managers like to point the finger at Newcastle being the problem for their failure, the easy response is, what did these guys do after leaving?

Wasn't it more Jill saying Shearer was coming to the end of his career? I know he said yes but I'm sure he's aware 29 year old Shearer wasn't near retirement.
