I just don't believe we'd go back and offer pretty much the same amount.

Pretty unanimous in the view that it was £50m last night but now it's not. Who stands to gain by changing the info?

Possibly last night the Journalists were all scurrying to report the news of the second bid but none of them knew how much the bid actually was, so they put 2 and 2 together and decided it must be in the region of 50m if Leicester want 60m.

You dont look like tough negotiators by bidding well under the sale price, refusing to come anywhere near it then walking away.

How else would you look like tough negotiators?

As more and more time goes on with no attacking reinforcements it does begin to raise concerns, they do seem to be targeting top players but to target these kinds of players (that teams don't want to lose) you need to go in with big offers which they just don't seem to be doing.

Aye.

Agreed. What's a little aggravating is how public all of these bids are when a lot of January was quiet until the deals we closed, creates an impression of  being spendthrifts.

Aye.  Targeting players and being way off what the selling club would accept is amateur stuff.

Well aren't we (the collective we) doing that with Maddison?

I believe you started this thread so you obviously give credence to the reports?

Multiple reliable sources have reported that we've placed a second bid. The same sources have said we have an interest in Diaby and Harrison, but it hasn't moved beyond that.

So it's somewhere in the region of £40 million and £50 million. At least the Athletic admitted they didn't know.

Feel like this is an player and signing we should do an Wood on. Awesome player, stealing an «rivals» best player and sending an big statement to our rivals.

Hopefully he can make a similar impact if the deal comes off.

So we still haven’t bid much over £40m. Craig Hope seems to be on the ball then

He always seems to be the first to report the backroom additions too. Think he was first with the other Carrick, plus the lawyer bloke.

Obviously it could be that others get that news too but don't bother reporting it, but it does suggest he has some good contacts somewhere within the club.

Total conjecture, but I wonder if reports of a higher bid are coming from the Leicester end to save face if they accept a lower offer? Luke, who probably got his info from John Percy and the transfer gimp originally broke the bid at the higher end. Our reporters are now pouring cold water on that.

Clearly no one knows anything other than 2 bids have gone in either side of the weekend, £35m, £40m, £45m, £50m with add-ons, including add-ons. It's all speculation at this point, the only consensus is that two bids have been made, the first one was rejected instantly and the second has been sat on the table for 24hrs.

Interesting one, hadn't considered that but it would make sense.
