For me, keepers have got away with these for years, it’s dangerous play. The slightest touch on a keeper normally gets pulled up instantly, yet a keeper can come through a crowd of players with their knee at head height and it’s just accepted.

Key Responsibilities

Source and write great content about NUFC which will appeal to and engage audiences

Cover major stories and breaking news on NUFC in a fast-paced digital environment

Tell stories through video, podcasts, live blogs and other interactive digital storytelling tools, using innovative techniques that grow audiences and engagement

Provide live coverage of football matches and other NUFC events for live blogs

Build strong contacts for story-gathering within the NUFC club and fan community

Understand the issues that Newcastle supporters care about and create content accordingly

Ensure that ChronicleLive is the fan’s first port of call for NUFC content

Use social media to engage with and build audiences

Write content responsively, driven by analytics to deliver on audience trends

Ensure all work at all times conforms to Reach Plc’s policies and procedures

The Ideal Candidate

A Reach Plc or equivalent journalist qualification (or relevant time-served experience), although we will consider applications from trainees

Experience researching and writing football content for digital audiences

An understanding of the issues that matter to Newcastle United fans

Good understanding of digital publishing including experience of using content management systems, understanding of SEO, audience behaviour and analytics

Strong social media understanding and presence

Awareness and understanding of how people use the internet to follow football news
