João Pedro - Chelsea Agree Deal With Brighton (Ornstein)

Recommended Posts

The absolute irony is, if the thi k fucks managing them have kept the existing squad and invested in a decent striker and manager, they'd have invested sensibly.

Instead they've spunked a load of coin on players that'll be in the reserves in a year or so

The concern for me is that we seem to once again to be failing to do due diligence.  Everyone and his granny seemed to be aware that the lad wanted to be in London except for our transfer team.  Not a good look.

My feeling is this was a smokescreen to get Chelsea to bite.

Makes sense from Brighton’s perspective - not from ours.  We were bidding after the press had clearly been briefed by his reps that he wanted to be in London.  Borderline amateurish to be frank.

When did we bid?

Elanga is 23 with bags of raw potential and all the attributes to be a perfect Howe player. I’d pay £60m in a heartbeat.

He’s a slightly above average premier league winger. 60m is a unhedged full send on his upside. We have money but we cannot afford to miss like that.

The quicker we get a good DoF in the better - one who Howe can actually work with.

we did ok without one.

stavely led the negotiations, mind.

You know what, after seeing Chelsea gave him a 7 year deal, it's clear we never stood a chance if we were even in for him at all and thankfully so if they were the terms he was demanding. Can anyone honestly see this guy being an active contributer to Chelsea in 2032? The cunt will be lucky to still have a squad number by 2027!

I'm furious with myself for allowing myself to believe Lee Ryder because he was telling me the news I wanted to hear. He's a renowned charlatan churning out absolute bilge for a decrepid husk of a newspaper, we all should've known better.

This is a reminded to us all not to take any bait from shitebags like Ryder, Hope, Waugh and least of all the bald nonce.

Is it a failure every time a player goes somewhere apart from us? You would imagine good players often have options.

From all the players we had solid links to in the last year:

Huijsen - Went to Real, can't begrudge anyone that

Cunha - Cost a fortune and Man Utd are paying him a fuck load

Mbeumo - Cost a fortune and Man Utd are going to pay him a fuck load

Guehi - Palace demanded far more than what he's worth and player happy to stay, now likely headed to Liverpool, again, can't begrudge that move

Pedro - Chelsea are paying him more and for longer, terrible footballing move but he's financially squared away for generations now

I'm sure there's other examples that I'm missing but the common theme is that we seem to be fishing in the same pond as our competitors except they have a much better fishing rod and tastier bait. We're nowhere near the top of the footballing food chain yet, we need to be getting the guys mentioned above before they get their PL move. We share a league with the Super League 6, snapping up the best, ready made, midtable talent for premium prices is a battle we're never going to win

Don't forget all the off field staff they have paid Brighton top dollar for.

Potter is the obvious one but they've also poached coaches, scouts and sporting directors.

Getting to the point where it would have been cheaper to actually buy the club and just leave Bloom in place to run it fir them.

If the rules allowed it, I'm pretty sure they would have just done that.
