Honestly it's not pedantry.

Just a quick search for the high profile ones: Suarez, Coutinho, Ronaldo, Rooney, Kane, Neymar, Mahrez, Aubemeyang, Lukaku, Diego Costa, Tevez, Fabregas, Pogba, Van Dijk, Zaha, Payet.

All took the nuclear option and failed, with their clubs holding out and doing any combo of: keeping them, getting an increased fee, selling them to another club, letting them leave on a free.

Those are just the high profile ones where players have gone nuclear as well. We only need to look back at Guehi last summer for a more run of the mill example where the player hasn't acted like a dick.

Most of the time I agree/like much of your post I see on here, I obviously get your points, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with what I said regarding the situation in reply to @gdm

I can't see a situation where he stays if it's gone beyond repair, the people saying things like he's under contract, we can force him to stay, we can let him rot in the reserves etc, it doesn't matter, we can't have a striker top 5 in the world dicking around in the reserves under 21s with constant media coverage, the clubs on its arse right now, no DOF, no CEO, recruitment looking shambolic, an organisation that are seemingly distant, they've taken their hands off the wheel a bit, and now people think we'll force a player of his profile to hang around in the hope of a bidding war next season.

I'm not convinced anymore, it's still great many of you are though, I like the faith.

I do still think you'll be disappointed though KI.

I've nothing to prove though in saying that, just my feelings on it.

Is Isak not a slight bit overrated?

He is gassed every game at 60 minutes and is slightly inconsistent.

I’m not sure if we get 150 million off Liverpool etc that it’s not that bad really

Him and his agent were happy to take a 6 year contract 3 years ago. Could have insisted on a five and would have more leverage for us to sell this summer. Sod him, let him mope around a world cup season or sign a new contract with agreement to shift next summer.

If you're going to inject some perspective rather than rabid knee-jerking you need to have a long hard look at yourself ...

He makes some fair points though.

Not really, at the end of it he justifies the cartel robbing us of our best players while we are prevented from using our wealth to keep them.

There's a casual ignoring of why chelsea and city were able and are able to spend indiscriminately. Mentioning the colossal revenue the league generates and not connecting it to questioning why no non top 6 club in said massive league has a player in the top 100 wages in the league was also done in bad faith.

He is fantastic and of the best strikers in the world when he is in form, but I also think he is too inconsistent for us  not to accept an offer of £140-150m. I'm convinced we can use that money to build a much better overall squad.

I do kind of get his point to be fair , whilst he is obviously top class he does have his flaws which if you are paying 150 million for a player you wouldn't really expect . Look at last season for example, he did nothing for the last 10 games or so and he started the season poorly as well. He also clearly has fitness issues .  If we were selling him abroad for 150 million and I was confident the money would be spent properly then I wouldn't be calling it bad business .

I didn't say I agree with him btw. Just that it was an interesting take and some of his points are valid.

Prophet out tbh.

I don't think his points are as valid as he does. Villa just did the Coutinho with Grealish and again with Duran and they're not spending big because they probably fucking can't.

Doing a coutinho is the top 6 "Trickle down economics". They're taking the piss.
