If its true that we haven't fined him yet then I think that's the biggest indicator that we have no intention of selling him and digging our heels in harder than he has. At this stage I don't think it matters what Liverpool bid for him, through sheer pride and stubbornness the Saudis will tell them where to go. Isak isn't going to strike all season so it's just a matter of when he's prepared to come back now and I think he'll be back in the squad straight after the international break.

In the meantime I just hope we manage to get someone in to lighten the load and take the pressure off the rest of the team.

I don't think Liverpool will

Whilst his behaviour will be off putting to the vast majority of clubs I don't think it makes a difference to Liverpool

If you believe his actions have been coached by Liverpool, which I do, then they'll be delighted at him

Fwiw, I think Liverpool do come back with another bid or two, and not just because we've invited it. They along with Isak will be pressuring us until the very end.

Liverpool could switch target in January if someone else is tearing the league up at home or abroad. They've ensured Isak didn't play against them and tapping him up has completely messed up our summer window, so the Liverpool boardroom will be loving that. I also don't think we'll ever sell to Liverpool, for exactly the above reasons. More importantly, holding our ground and denying both Isak and Liverpool what they want will ensure this will never happen to us again. Clubs will find it far harder to tap up our players because our players will know what happened to Isak.

Liverpool are extremely arrogant as both a club and fanbase and their boardroom would have expected to have Isak in ages ago, just as their fans have been gloating about it all summer. They're running a risk if they get injuries up front that they won't have enough depth. They may still end up panic signing someone like Wissa.

Liverpool aren't helping themselves by throwing lowball bids which don't appear serious in the first place. I saw Keith Downie saying he thinks we might sell for around £130m but that would make Liverpool and Isak look like they had won. I just don't know where he is getting this thinking from, it makes no sense at all.

His premise is that we could spend £100m on Wissa and Larsen, both players who won't hold resale value because of age, and let Isak go for £130m while he's still 25? The logic is bonkers.

What's this even supposed to mean?

Some Chelsea fans think they're hoping we offer a swap deal for Isak, but I'm assuming it's more to do with them waiting to see if we want to come in for Jackson after selling Isak to Liverpool. But why would Chelsea care?

Probably just a way to shoehorn the name 'Isak' into the tweet to generate more engagement.

They know we are desperate for a striker and will pay a higher fee.

If we get say £120m for Isak and still not signed a striker they probably think they can take a huge chunk of that as we'll be desperate

Also there must be a good chance we don't get either Larsen or Wissa as their clubs aren't selling unless we pay something totally stupid, because they won't be able to find replacement strikers themselves. Chelsea don't have that issue, they have so many strikers they don't know what to do with them.

Jackson for 50 mill is probably the best deal out there (if that still is the price).

No. No and thrice No. That is not a deal anyone should be doing. He's sh1te and his attitude is worse than sh1te.

Play Osula until January.

Jackson for me always looks lively, I think with Howes tutoring he would turn out a very good signing

He can't finish his dinner.

And anyway - I'm not giving money to Chelsea on principle.

He scored a total of 13 goals (all competitions) last season and 17 the season before that. It's not great, but certainly not bad either.

Most of them on a plate from Palmer and/or off his knee from three yards out. Remember the "worst hat trick in history"?

Playing Osula until January would mean writing off our season basically.

We'll be bottom half by January doing that.

I'd take that over signing Jackson.

Strand Larsen and/or Wissa in preference to Osula obviously yes.

I'm not a fan of Jackson by any means, in fact I remember being at odds with TCD who seemed to rate him a year ago. But he seems to be rated by Howe, and Emery wants to take him to Villa, and he had him under his wing at Villareal so he must think there's something there. I'd certainly rather he was starting up front than Osula.
