find it hard to believe the club knew that Isak wanted to leave from the start of the season for various reasons, but not least because they (Eales) were publicly talking about wanting to have contract talks with him at the end of the season.

 

the most logical theory I’ve got would be that he wanted a pay rise. Bruno and Gordon got one that will have taken their wages higher than his, and Isak would’ve justifiably wanted more than them. For whatever reason we never gave him it. Hope even reported that Mitchell had decided Isak was already on enough as it was didn’t he?

Not apples for apples, but Levy dealt with Kane’s little tantrum. If Isak is willing to reason knowing that the club won’t back down, then it’s not unsalvageable. Tell him that he can go next summer, and if he’s got a problem with that, then tough shit.

 

Allowing the cartel clubs to win with this bullying not only sends a message to them that they can tap up our players, but it sends a message to other players that they can throw a tantrum and force us to sell no matter where they are in their contract. I think it's pretty obvious he checked out after the cup final , he was useless for the last 10 games and we all gave him the he must be injured get out of jail free card. The way he has gone on this summer tells me exactly the type of bloke he is though, so tossing off the last 10 games in the hope it was easier for him to get his move is perfectly reasonable .

My bottom line is not to Liverpool this summer. If the club is able to find other suitors I can accept to let him go for the sake of squad harmony.

 

In fact I wonder why other clubs won’t do something like a loan + obligation deal like the Hall one so they can get Isak now and paid next season. We are fine with this.
