I really hope we get another 2-3 good players in and people are mad to look like entitled, whinging fuckers. I would love it.

I think we all are hoping for another 3 very good players.

Another 2-3 good players is the absolute bare minimum we need.

I think 4 players of quality would be an excellent window, you can’t really expect much more than that. No club ever has nothing to complain about or no areas of weakness.

Would agree, 4 or 5 players of quality in GK, CB, CM, RW, ST are essential.

Sell a couple to recoup some funds, sign a bunch to bolster the academy. Easy when you think about it.

I mean the lower range of your post is 3 good players in total. Do you honestly think 2 more "good" signings, especially now we're starting to realise it won't be the "excellent" pool we're shopping in, will be enough?

Let's say we get Wissa and Rudoni. Is that enough?

At this stage I find it hard to understand the perspective of laying into people who are worried by the lack of movement. If we hadn't had three barren transfer windows prior to this one, I could get behind it more, but the squad clearly needs a lot of work and the weeks will quickly pass by.

With a champions league campaign ahead of us and a thin and somewhat aging squad, we have more work to do than most clubs in the league; so while other clubs have been quite static too, most of them can afford to be while we really can't.

The frustration is understandable IMO.

More reason to be frustrated than not atm. Still time to turn it around.

Is Baron Transfer Window the name of Isak's agent?

If I'm Isak then I'm not signing anything until I see some tangible signs that the people running the club are matching my ambitions tbh. This was supposed to be the summer we went for it and built on the trophy and CL place. Result so far? 1 player in

Realistically under the current framework do you see any way we can match the financial clout of the big six? Their revenues are far bigger and will be far easier to grow than ours. Surely all players know this? If I am an amibitious player aren't there only a handful of clubs worth signing for? Look at who wins the domestic leagues in each Country? We all know this stuff, stands to reason players do too. Honestly if Isak has his heart set on moving on at some point in the near future then offering him a new contract is unnecessary.

Depends on what you mean by enough. To solve all our problems, no. Decent relative to what we can expect, yes.

Those names in particular are at the lower end of the market we've been shopping in obviously, the players matter more than the numbers.

As we speak it does seem like a big ask. Ironically the only way we do manage it is if we sell the likes of Isak for huge money and invest every penny in finding another 4 Isaks and repeat until we are at the point Chelsea are at and have assembled a squad of players other clubs want and we can trade with. It's been a disappointing and very sobering summer so far but still feel we could and should have done more

I just think about the vision and future of the club and how it was going to grow and challenge in the next 5-10 years while we were trying to get him here 3 years ago. I bet we sold him such a fantastic future he couldn't wait to put pen to paper, shiny new ground in the pipeline, new training facilities, bringing in more quality players (where possible) etc.

I know I'm being a bit doom and gloom and there is still time to get the squad built up before September but right now it does feel like we're staring down the barrel a bit. Clubs aren't daft, the prices are only going one way as they've seen the state of the exec team and how they've watched other clubs come in and sign players from under our noses several times - selling clubs will make it even more difficult now, no one is going to do us any favours

Ever since Isak came on board, we've made the Champions League twice, been in two cup finals, and won one. We finished 4th, 7th, and 5th. We've turned him into one of the most feared strikers in the world. If you compare the team that finished 4th to the one that finished 5th, there's a massive improvement. I reckon people are overreacting a bit right now.

Why not? Can see him doubling his salary and inserting a mutually beneficial release clause. Win-win ish.

We’ve not given him any support in terms of other strikers, in fact done nothing for last few years, ran him into the ground every game and he can go to a team giving him CL every single year and going further in the tournament for bigger wages.

No it’s just he’s now grown to a stage he can expect trophies every season and a. decent chance of winning the CL, he’s outgrown us and time to try our best to keep him and if it doesn’t work we move on. As a club we need to get better at handling change and moving on.
