Some fans on here and in general are  deluded, a huge club like Liverpool are after a striker and can likely double his wages, he's seeing lads at Chelsea and Man utd earn far more money who couldn't lace his boots...

Whether it's Isak Tonali or any squad player they'd do the same thing..

Be the same fans who booed Cabaye no doubt...

I don't think anyone resents the player, we're all adults, we understand maximizing your marketability while you can. I resent the system that prevents us from rewarding our own players via a funnel to the legacy clubs who can launder money ad nauseam.

I resent the other 10 clubs this affects being ok with it because they're not looking to be more than PL teams.

Who else is realistically gonna offer £130-150m for him?

You've already said this. Maybe Liverpool or PSG. My point was, you'd need a bidding war and in that, it's helpful to have a Saudi club stalking horse.

They shouldn't whinge too much when someone points out their pay isn't cut and they can't be sacked if they turn out to be shit.

The pendulum has swung too far in players favour and we are paying for it.

This season is my first season off the 10yr deal. If my ticket had been over £600 I'd have packed in. I can afford more but can't justify it to myself.

I don't think that's true at all.  Happy to be proved wrong if you have a source though

It's in the club accounts.

Yep, no way are all these pages being read  [emoji38]

Call it delusion, maybe it's one of the stages of grief. But I can't see him asking to leave..... for what, Liverpool or Saudi invisibility?

We've said all along he's not for sale and all the replacements are now unavailable.

Tell him he can't go this summer, offer him a big payrise with a £150m release clause for next summer and an additional year extension. If only it were FM.

this is the ideal scenario IMHO. Concern here is he starts feeling niggles a lot more, motivation is gone on and off the pitch. National team also has a plum WC qualifier draw and you can invisage a scenario where he becomes less and less available towards next summer

Because they also need other players, and this would mean spending over 500 million pounds. That money is loaned, they dont have it.

How many more players do they need?

If Diaz goes they'll replace him

They probably need a CB but that's about it

People can keep saying they don't have the money to make themselves feel better but they have the money and even if they didn't then they'd find it because getting Isak pretty much guarantees them the league

With the greatest respect possible - it’s delusion at this point

So where do we go from here?🤷‍♂️🫩

We spin our wheels, sign no one, sell our best player and spend the season wondering what could have been. Then we do it again next year.

Even if we got the £150m which I don't think we will under these circumstances who are genuine striker alternatives? Ekitike was probably the most similar profile wise and the one I could stomach being his replacement, not convinced by Sesko at all.

Oh well. He’s made it clear and I’m usually of the opinion that once you want to explore your options you can’t really go back. Shades of Yohan Cabaye about the whole thing in truth.

His timing is particularly crap, even if he was waiting to see what the club would do in the window before committing to a decision.

As I said elsewhere, this is another great example of how PSR strangles the ambitious who sit outside traditional elite.

If he was given the wage he wants then there’s several others with cause to demand a bump and suddenly that one raise because four or five.

So instead we’re likely to sell him to a team that has already spent 200m on attackers including the one we wanted to succeed him.

The fact we won a cup and finished isn’t enough, which tells me that money alone isn’t the issue here.

For the millionth time, we can't sell to a Saudi club. It will not help with PSR. Any move to Saudi needs to be ratified by PL. And Isak doesn't want to move out of Europe this early on in his career.

Isn't it only UEFA that it wouldn't count towards?

And they issue paltry fines, that Villa, Chelsea etc are happy to pay

Yeah the Premier league would need to agree the value, but he genuinely is worth a fortune

Starting to regret gloating that Liverpool don't have a 9 and we'd end up with both Isak and Ekitike [emoji38]

I would be amazed (and a bit disappointed) if Howe isn't cutthroat about this tbh. We cannot have players skipping pre-season because they regret signing their contract.

could argue ekitike is the diaz replacement. He is capable of playing wide and liverpool used diaz through the centre a lot more than you expect
