It's a fair point though. Seen plenty on here refer to us as a laughing stock.

I think we all understand the PSR challenges of bringing in players was always going to be difficult, but keeping players with the club is something we have a degree of control over.

If our rich Saudi overlords, who were meant to come in and let us challenge for the title within 5 or so years, sell our biggest asset to a club we aspire to compete against, then they've failed the first real test of their resolve.

I'd argue that would make our club, and project, look more of a laughing stock.

The same people that were mocking Newcastle when they "overpaid" for him in the first place! And yet here we are a few years later and if he goes it will be a British record transfer. Clown world.

And I know everyone thinks the club is a catastrophe at the moment and will never sign another player again, but these gloaters should be more concerned about what the club will be able to do with the money that comes in.

Every player that comes in keeps performing at a high level and pushing the club forward. I am far from convinced this is going to be the big setback people are expecting IF it even happens.

Why’s he not on the tour then? And don’t say injury

I think the most likely reason is to push a move, probably to Liverpool.

But just highlighting that there's surely a lot more going on that we know.

We're just being fed parts that agents want us know through people like Romano.

From the get go him and Ornstein have said similar and at basically the same time.

I know our local journos know fuck all. But the likes of Hope to get the odd scrap. Nothing from anyone else before those two transfer bores first broke the story.

Seems fairly obvious it is the Liverpool end and/or Isak and his camp trying to drive the price down through media pressure. Well, that and Isak deciding he doesn’t want to play for us at the minute or at all.

The entire thing (including Isak not being with the squad) is a concerted strategy on the part of Liverpool/Isak/his agent.

When you actually see the guy that is apparently going to be the new CEO, I imagine this is not an easy guy to bring to the club, and it likely took a lot of work in the background.

They've gone for someone that is very very experienced at the highest level, and they do seem to look for the best hires when bringing people into the club.

The only time they went away from that was Mitchell which was Eales bringing in someone he was close with as they had worked together previously, and that didn't go too great.

They have Ekitike who could potentially a lot wide right and they don’t have a natural centre forward. Also if a player like Isak becomes available then it’s no surprise they’d want him. I still think there as durability issue with him but there’s no doubting his class.

Etikite is a striker. According to Transfermarkt he’s never played RW. Played 98% of his games at ST.

Im confident he stays.

Tbf to Spurs, a crucial part of their growth is that Berbatov aside they always sold abroad and those sales arguably catapulted them into the big 6.

How do you explain their selling Kevin Scott to Norwich for £250,000 then ?

Genuinely believe the Dippers can't afford him

I think they’ll need to shift a combination of Elliot, Nunez and Diaz first which means this is going to drag on for weeks. Not that parasitic clickgoblins like Romano will mind.

£150m upfront from Liverpool, or the same amount outside of the PL but over 5 years. Get some bites from elsewhere.

Saudi for me £500k a week playing infront of a few thousand fast asleep sloths.

The risk of them selling him or loaning him out 6-12 months down the line is too big though. Heck Duran has been loaned out and he only signed in January.

Still to be convinced they are able/willing to stump up the fee

I’m confident too. Isak’s agent kicked off when Liverpool signed him, as though Isak’s options had suddenly shrank and his hand wasn’t as strong.

I think just out of principle we should be saying to Alex - we'll sell you to anyone 'other' than Liverpool.  They took Ekitike now they want Alex? PIF have to tell them to get lost whatever the cost.

I don't think they do, I think for them what's the hurry? They believe he only wants them and thus we must take whatever scraps they throw.

They are probably the most arrogant club in the country.

Where did I want him to leave?

I’ve maintained that we wouldn’t let him go.  Any competent club wouldn’t sell him in this situation.

Sorry I worded that poorly, I meant after all that has happened do you want him to stay
