The way he has gone about it leaves a bad taste and it’s deeply frustrating the way some mistreat our historic, iconic and unique club and see it as some sort of stepping stone. Sociopath, tbh. TRon
4 minutes ago, Keegans Export said: I think a lot depends on the attitude of the squad. If the general feeling is that they understand why he/his team have done what they've done, that's professional football etc. and as long as he's going to knuckle down once the window shuts then I think we'll be doing the right thing not budging on our "not for sale" stance. But if the consensus is that he's acted like a wanker who has let his teammates down then maybe it's better for the club as a whole to let him go. In truth, Liverpool aren't a rival. With the rules as they are we aren't competing for titles any time soon so our battle is with Villa, Arsenal, Man Utd not Liverpool and Man City. An extra £90-100m or whatever we have after Sociedad get their cut could leave us with a stronger squad overall - GK, CB, CM, Wissa, Sesko. The problem, and I wasn't expecting this going into the summer, is that I've completely lost faith in both our transfer strategy and our ability to get deals done. It's about the message it sends to the rest of the squad. If they see the leadership hold firm that will give them confidence in the project they've been sold. It's a terrible message to let Isak go to one of our rivals because we feel we can't match up to them. It's about more than the player for me, it's about PIF's intent around the club. I get that Howe might not prefer to keep an unhappy player around, but I think he will be on board with the bigger vision as well. I doubt he wants to be seen as second best to anyone. He is an elite goalscorer, but we spent chunks of last season looking like we were playing with 10 men. Whilst I don't disagree - his goals also bailed us out quite a few times. He is also proven to get you over 20 goals a season - that's not easy to come by. Especially for us.

If he downs tools tell him he can rot in the reserves for three years, is he willing to risk the impact on his career of that? KaKa
This is beyond weird now. It's just not adding up. Liverpool have been way too passive in this whole pursuit and I'm not convinced they are actively trying to sign Isak. I think his agent has initiated it all and approached Liverpool to try to to get him over there, and Liverpool will consider doing the deal only if we are looking to move him on and will take their £120 million offer. Liverpool are seemingly not pushing for this at all and still have not bid, which is typically the most aggressive form of interest. Even with Isak kicking up a fuss and not going on tour they still haven't tried to apply further pressure with a bid. Yet every hour of everyday these social media mouthpieces are constantly spouting the same nonsense to keep this in the news cycle about Isak wanting Liverpool. This has to be his agent. The goal is likely to have the fans turn on him, and also weaken the clubs resolve until they give in and decide to get rid of him and inform Liverpool they will take their offer. I don't think the club is going to go for this at all. They won't be looking for someone to give him away to for any kind of reasonable fee, just because all of this noise is being made. Maybe I'm wrong, but something is really weird about all of this. I'm not convinced at all of Liverpool's supposed intent to get a deal done . Lets see if a bid comes in this week like we keep being told will happen.

Kid Icarus
And surely selling Isak would have been more likely to be granted by us if we'd been given a free run at Ekitike. The way this Isak to Liverpool move is being talked about like a formality even after that happened and we've said he's not for sale is bizarre like. Maybe they thought they'd be able to find more clubs willing to go for him, but that hasn't been the case, as they don't want to shell out the money. Seems their best bet is this Liverpool offer, and so they're now ramping things up to get Newcastle to fold.

A lot of it seems out of absolutely nowhere. 2 months ago even the biggest sky 6 knob lickers were saying Isak leaving after we qualified for champions league was a pipe dream. And if its true that Isak felt he'd outgrown us, and wanted to make the next calculated step of his career, these kind of moves are greased well in advance. We'd have heard chatter from Romano and the twitter mafia that he was looking at other options. Instead, its radio silence, and then suddenly he's desperate to leave? could just be he was waiting for the right club to show interest, but still seems like we're missing a lot of the context here.
