Hate to say it aswell but in that early flurry of the likes of Trippier, Bruno, Botman, Isak etc in the first season and half. There was a lot of buzz still around Newcastle and the takeover etc and players and agents were looking at us likely as his exciting project with huge money behind it. 

 

Despite the success Eddie has achieved, it feels he achieved a lot of it in spite of the increased wealth not because of it. It has became patently clear to most that are paying attention that there is far too many hurdles put in our way for us to be the next Man City or Chelsea and I think that means it's proving more difficult to sell the project to prospective players. 

 

Could be wrong but that's how this summer feels to me.

I get where you're coming from, but at the same time the longer this drags on, the bigger the shit we're going to find ourselves in in terms of any form of adequate replacements.

Haven't seem him at all myself. Just similar in terms of age, fee and playing in a top league that isn't PL.

I think he was, he'd just come off a bit of a down season allowing us to get him a bit under radar. Sesko was utter toss in the Euros. All moot anyway, we're not signing him, doubt we were ever in for him at all.

One of the few levers we have in any negotiation (incoming or outgoing) is payment structure. We don’t need ready cash it’s just the artificial PSR accounting that restricts us. Telling Liverpool we want it all up front would be at least be us exercising some power in this transaction.

Sustainable success is to a large extent results dependent. It doesn’t preclude the occasional investing for now signing. The occasional investing for now signing, say when you have Champions League and a solid foundation to achieve a third top six finish, is sensible to ensure the right results.

I just think we need to consider him as 'medium term injured' and get on without him. Sign the players we were needing to sign anyway and continue to say no to them. If he had an acl or whatever we'd just have to get on with it and make do until he was available again, we'd survive, wouldn't be pretty but we'd get by. 

 

Just giving up because we're fed up of it is giving them isak on a plate much cheaper then necessary. Fuck them, make them jump through hoops for a month. String the cunts along, move the goalposts every day, fuck it

Please explain? We don't NEED to sell Isak, no. But we most certainly aren't rolling in it from a PSR point of view and most definitely need to not go into the season with a player who doesn't want to be here and who's massively pissed off (some of) his teammates and staff. I don't see any feasible way for him to still be our player by the end of the window and for it to go well.
