Might be wrong but didn’t Eddie say after Celtic that he only wants players who want to play for us? Obviously might not be true but can’t imagine him being happy having someone around who is clearly gasping to get away and willing to disrespect the club, manager and fans to do so.

and for what it's worth, I really do think at this point that we are likely self destructive enough to have decided that it's best if Isak, our prized asset, goes this summer no matter what. The betting money really is on us desperately looking for his replacement.

It's not that ludicrous. I think there is a price we sell Isak for, but until Liverpool come somewhere close, we could probably keep Isak for another season and sell next summer and still be in line with PSR. 

 

If we had got the top rated replacements like Sesko or Ekitike then maybe we would sell. But even then you need Liverpool to pay a reasonable fee for a world class striker.

You're right that someone needs to be playing hardball, whether or not it's Howe's job I honestly don't know.

 

On the one hand we don't have much of a board to speak of so by default it kinda falls to him. And the likes of Ferguson, Wenger, Mourinho were managers not directors and would be giving the player the hard line rather that trotting out lines like "only want players who want to be here" which only help the players' negotiating position.

 

On the other, Howe is very much the hands-on coach type and k ows how to get the best out of the group as a whole. Also, in the stupid world of modern football he's aware that if we're doing shit in 3 months his job is potentially on the line (if there's anyone at the club to even sack him that is) so you're right he needs to concentrate on the playing angle in the immediate future.

We are clearly preparing for life without Isak. Wissa and Samu plus Osula. Before that the plan was Wissa and Sesko (and Osula)

 

The fact that we are linked with so many strikers really shows how eager we are to get two strikers over the line

If you think that’s any sort of jab you are very sensitive. I was meaning it in general. If it was a jab I’d have said you were naive and silly. I didn’t

Impossible to answer. Haven’t been involved in the discussions. If I had to guess I’d say Howe doesn’t want him there if he’s a disruption. Everything we know about Howe is he loves team harmony - family days, getting players up in front of the squad to tell their life story, ringing round Dan burns mates to find out what he’d like, learning every players wife and kids names. Just my opinion but I get feeling that stuff means more to Howe than talent (not that talent isn’t important)

I just wonder if we really bring in two strikers, would we let Isak go? But that doesn’t make sense as most likely he will go to Liverpool if that’s the case which is unacceptable. So are we going to have 3 strikers? Probably change to a 442 or 4231?

The ask of Liverpool is if they dont think £150m is "fair value" then go buy the player who's just as good or better for what they think is "fair value". If they can't, then where is the basis for £150m being unfair other than it being a big number?
