But that is exactly what many people are wanting.

I can understand people wanting him to rot in the reserves, but not this.

He wouldnt be let back in with the squad without the leadership group approving it, if they feel he is worth bringing him back into the fold then id trust them to make the right call for the team.

Isak is a petulant child, but I cant see the likes of Trippier, Lascelles and Bruno letting a bad attitude corrupt the team cohesion.

How much is this costing Isak and his agent? If we had an offer on the table for 200k a week, and are currently or about to not pay him, or even starting fining him, his current wages, it won't take long until the difference hits seven figures. I know footballers are rich but that will still hurt.

He may have been pissed off about not getting a new contract but he is currently setting fire to a lot of money and won't be getting any from Liverpool unless they give us what we want for him.

Yep. Anyone but Liverpool.

Incredibly sad way to tarnish his reputation with us. Loads of bollocks and posturing around the whole thing and you never know exactly what the truth of every little tidbit is, but one thing for certain is that he's burned bridges and hasn't really gained anything by doing it. Really dumb decision compounded by doubling down.

I'm sure there would have been a better way out for everyone but if you've signed a contract and have 3 years left on it, this isn't it. Massive shame

The mood around the club seemed to be a one looking to compete for the title a few weeks ago - we were very close to 2nd last year, we're now scraping about trying to salvage a squad for a top 5 finish because Isak has completely fucked our window up, forced us well off track and starting Anthony Gordon for the first couple of games of the season.

If I was working with someone who purposely fucked my career opportunities up like that I'd want to set him on fire.

The players aren't robots, ofcourse its going to have a huge effect on the dressing room.

Of course they’re not but we forget there’s probably players who still speak and see him on a daily or frequent basis since this started , if he came back and got his head down then I think they’d cope for the season

Isak’s not the first person to do really stupid and selfish shit. He may or may not come to his senses, but given our quandary, the door should still be open for him to do so. He’ll have to take some punishment of course.

but refusing to forgive over this seems just as ill conceived as his ostensible position is.

edit - actually google tells me it was Bob Arum, not Don King (who’s Jewish as well, as it happens 😬).

Great players can act like cunts and still come back into a squad and play well for the team again

Managers can be absolutely fucking shit and act like cunts and get paid millions for getting sacked

How people can even think about forgiving him is beyond me.

He has put us in a fucking awful position in what was supposed to be the season we pushed even further forward, and he doesn't seem to care one bit. All about himself.

I can see players "accepting" him back if he is stuck here, but there will always be that elephant in the room affecting the team morale imo.

If he stays I think he'll play second fiddle to Wissa (if he ever signs) in the majority of bigger games, unless there's some sort of grand gesture of apology. Can quite easily see a scenario where Isak is starting the Carabao game and a Champions League game away to Bodo-Glimt, that sort of caper.

I'd love it.

Reckon he'd get boo'd every time he touches the ball as well.

I certainly won't be celebrating any of his goals.

I'm at the point where the only one absolutely unacceptable outcome is to sell him to Liverpool for even a penny less than £150 million, with his written transfer request in hand.

If Liverpool stump up £150,000,000.01  (not even £140 million with "add-ons"), that's a win. Let him go and good riddance.  If they don't, and he stays, that's also a win, whether he reintegrates (which he likely will, at least to an extent) or sulks in the U-21s. He'll still be a saleable asset next year. Either way, we will have stood up for ourselves and not caved in to scorched earth pressure from an entitled rival and a treacherous/misguided player. We'll have set a precedent -- don't mess with Newcastle United.

The disaster would be to capitulate by "compromising" or "meeting half way" by letting him go for, say, £130 or £135 million. That would be a humiliation.

I will - I don’t support players, I support Newcastle United.  I don’t give two shites about them - and for all the wank they talk in the press, I’ve never believed a player who gives it the ‘I love this club’ patter in the press.

How people can take such a hardened stance when there are still some unknowns is also beyond me. Being aware that people have done worse shit is a good start. The examples of other players downing tools hasn’t always ended badly. Yeah his purported behavior hasn’t helped for prepping for the new season, but other similar scenarios have at least demonstrated that there is some possibility to salvage the situation. If the players and club are willing to work with him, then that’s fine by me. Suarez was known to be an utter prick, but teammates still found a way to work with him. I strongly suspect that Isak isn’t nearly as bad as that wannabe vampire.

What people fail to realise. He's been a cunt but he's a young man. His agent is probably misguided him. He's 25 years old.  This situation is resolvable. His agent doesn't have any other bog tickets and wants this big move as he might worry Isak could get injured this season or fall of. It's happened before with him. This could be his agents big pay day.

He's plenty old enough to know acting like this is of benefit to nobody, including himself. The initial not going to South Korea because of a niggle thing could be excused as bad agent advice, but not everything since
