Why are people still going on about £130 million?

The club has said £150 million and replacements or he’s going nowhere. This couldn’t be clearer.

its clearly come from above Howe who understands this and is now trying to manage the situation and give Isak a way back in.

The Saudis aren’t going to lose face on this one, especially with a club who were pivotal in stopping the takeover and creating the current psr situation.

The club haven't said anything.

This forum and Twitter have said £150m. Nobody has a clue what the club want, it could be £2 or £200m for all we know.

Well in that case. Isak hasn’t said anything either.

Some aweful takes in here mind, take emotion out of it, he's our biggest asset both on the pitch and financially, we aren't cutting him loose, selling him on the cheap or loaning him away without a replacement. He's going nowhere and he will play for us again at least for this season, maybe even longer depending on what happens and he will score a bucket load again because its his job and he's paid handsomely for it and if he does want to win stuff he can still do it here this season and put himself in the shop window if he wants off in the summer.

It doesn't matter how you "feel" about his actions or behaviour, the club will act in accordance with practicability.

Well he hasn't, has he?

Anything that's been leaked is from his agent, not him. So you're right, he's said nothing.

that’s actually a fair point, can’t remember where the 150 came from??

Alternatively though the club made it very clear to Liverpool from what they said, that the bid was emphatically rejected

Is his agent on record saying this stuff then? Must have missed that bit…..

So the journos reporting on the club’s stance, the supposed figure etc have plucked that from thin air and made it up? Not perhaps someone from within the club briefing them, with all of the journos following suit with the same or a very similar story?

It’s not that dissimilar to what LFC and Isak’s camp appear to be doing. It’s just that we’ve not been leaking bits to client journalists on an almost daily basis. As we don’t need to.

Why on earth would we allow that?

Because it's a better option than doing nothing if he's unwilling to cooperate. He literally has one sort-of offer on the table at the moment and it's unacceptable, I don't see a lot of options.

Also, the optics of us holding a player "hostage" or however the media will refer to it as will be absolutely horrendous for future business. Whether any of us give a shit what Romano, Ornstein, Jacobs etc think, they drive an online narrative that genuinely has implications in 2025.

It's not totally inconceivable that Isak was told we wouldn't entertain an offer of anything less than £150m for him and his agent leaked that info also.

The media have turned on Isak, I don't think we have to worry about the "hostage" tag, plus lots of other teams have held players to their contracts also and it hasn't affected their ability to buy players since.

Sorry like, but I couldn't care less how the media try and dress it up, players looking would surely see we weren't 'holding him hostage'.

He has 3 years left of a 6 year contract, and the only offer so far is far below his valuation, based on other recent transfers in the Premier League, and even at the club trying to get him on the cheap.

No way can or should it be seen as holding him hostage because we won't just sell him to the only club bidding, for a lower fee.

Why would we sacrifice our whole season because of how bad it looks to the media? Neither will holding a player to his contract be horrendous for business, we've done nothing wrong. We've tried to buy other strikers, and Liverpool have not made a serious bid to sign Isak.

The holding hostage narrative is ridiculous. The guy has been subject to one bid , at a level that is universally recognised to be well below his financial worth.

I was thinking I’m starting to get arthritis in my thumbs from 40 plus years of playing the guitar. Then I realise it’s all this Swedish knobber’s fault because of excessive and constant checking for updates on my phone. Just bought my dream guitar. If this isn’t sorted soon it’ll be a huge waste of money.
