"I've had a great relationship with him, you need that partnership with every player. I have to work really closely with the player for his benefit, to try and improve them. I always want to be there for him.

"I don't think Isak would have done as well without that, his team mates, the supporters - he recognises that, he's an intelligent person."

This sounds quite conciliatory in tone IMO. Or the beginning of conciliatory at least.

Looking forward to the fines this cunt will be smashed with.

Absolutely fucking outrageous this carry-on

We can only fine him 2 weeks wages presumably for each time he fails to turn up but he probably has millions in the bank so fines won't bother him too much!!

The hatred is to be expected, probably understandable, but let's be realistic about this, of all the potential outcomes the one which is by far the best for us is Isak back in the team and firing.

Compromises and possibly embarrassing u-turns would be needed to get there but it wouldn't be the first time.

Howe is just the ultimate man manager. Every step of the way he's kept his options open, he doesn't give anything away. He could be fuming with Isak behind closed doors, but he would never let on in public.

Publicly saying Isak recognises the club's support for him also begins to smooth the way for fans to accept him, or revile him less, at least.

Yep. The fans who think there's no way back, you can understand it, they are fans. As a club with a valuable asset which is very hard to replace, you need to see the bigger picture, and Howe is a step above your usual brain fart manager like Steve Bruce. He is well aware of everything and the impact of what he says.

If we were to get 10 mil for this season from someone like PSG for a loan would we take a slightly reduced fee next summer?

Assuming he has another similar season and does nowt in the WC because Sweden.

Nope. Full price only. I've said there should be one price for foreign based clubs and another much higher, more unaffordable price for Liverpool.

I would happily take 110 million mind if it meant he went to PSG and not Liverpool . He's likely going to Liverpool anyway for 130 million at most either this summer or next summer so it would be worth the hit .

Seen a few Liverpool fans saying £110m is fair because it'd be a new British record.

Imagine Jack Walker and Blackburn's reaction if us and Man Utd rocked up to them after Euro 96 and bid £9m because it would have been. British record transfer.

That's not how pricing works. Liverpool fans being thick.

id take 10-20m loan fee from Barca, Real, Paris, or an Italian club and take 110-120m from that club next summer for sure.

Barcelona next summer was always my assumption - he’s said he’d want to go back to Spain to join one of the big boys, and Barcelona can’t sign anyone atm

Isn't Lewa rumoured to be going to Saudi?

I'd take a loan with obligation to Barca or PSG, we don't need the PSR headroom this year but could get a nice loan fee (lets say £20m loan fee, £110m sale next year if its abroad).

PSG is his only option imo. Can see him at least going there on loan for a year tbh.

So who would we play as our mainline striker this season?
