Double woosh

I knew exactly that you hadn’t heard it somewhere else, there’s no way on this earth you could have heard a theory as mental as that anywhere other than reading it in here last night

Actually, if you’re a script writer for Scooby Doo you might have heard it at work, I’ll concede that

I think Liverpool will bid on Tuesday then depending on our answer (surely rejected) they’ll start looking at other targets and we’ll know it’s over I don’t think it will drag on till deadline day

Especially with them needing another forward as well. I wonder if any informal thing could be said on Monday to maybe pre empt any further bid with the two hierarchies being in the same place on Monday ?

I’d like to think any club official at the game on Monday would tell Liverpool it’s an emphatic no and don’t bother bidding. I think we’ll all be glad when the window is shut till January anyway

I reckon on Monday someone better try and rip off Ekitike's head just to make sure it's not really Isak in disguise.

It would make sense as it would also give them a bit more time to find someone else. In fact you kind of hope its already been done.

Yes thinking about it, the Isak statement has probably only hardened our stance. If Pool were to bid on Monday as Supertoon has said it’d only piss us off even more given his disrespectful it would be. I agree about the Tuesday bid, probs one last attempt.

Liverpool publicly announcing through their media contacts on Monday that they are going to be moving on elsewhere for their attacking targets would sum up the whole saga.

Would be a case they knew they would do that, but kept it dragged out with Isak/agent so it definitely meant he wouldn’t play.

Nicky Butt on Alexander Isak:

“People make mistakes. I seem to remember Wayne Rooney having rumours around him and he stayed and went on to become Manchester United’s record goalscorer – but the way this one [the Isak situation] has gone on, it would have been ‘see you later’.

When the player is repeatedly saying it – and he has been for two or three weeks now, [Alexander] Isak – it’s just different. It isn’t one quote that he didn’t mean, so he would have been moved on by now.

I hope that Newcastle do that. They’re an amazing, big football club with an unbelievable fanbase. They’ve given him the platform to become the superstar he is now and changed his and his family’s lives. I think the way he’s behaved is sickening, really, but I do think he will get his move to Liverpool.

There’s a way of doing it. If you lose the fans, especially at a club like Newcastle, you have a long way to go to get them back on side.

I had it after we played Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final because of some false rumours that were kicking about. You can win them back, but you could also lose the players in the changing room.

He’s basically saying ‘you aren’t good enough for me to play with’. You’re with your team-mates more than your own family at this level of football so, if you’ve lost the guy that sits next to you, it’s time to go.

With Isak, he’s essentially just said ‘I am going and I want to go to Liverpool’.

It’s really messy. He’s obviously got his reasons but I would hate it… hate that he thought I wasn’t good enough for him to play with me. It wouldn’t happen in the changing rooms that I was in.

You’d maybe let it go once or twice. But the way this one has gone on is too far. I actually think the senior players, the leadership team, should go to the club and say they don’t want him around. It’s killing the squad; the way he is behaving is so selfish.

Football is a job sometimes for these lads, no more than that. He’s not from Newcastle, he’s not a Geordie, he’s just thinking about his next move and how he gets to his dream – winning the Champions League or whatever it may be."

That’s all well and good to say, but we don’t have the strikers to allow him to leave.

If I wanted advice from him it'd be about pointless overhead kicks into touch from his own half.

I’ve seen this take a lot from certain ex players but nearly zero of them have addressed that it would leave us with no strikers, which is the main issue here.

In fairness, Butt’s not having a dig or thinking about it in a business sense. He’s talking in a purely emotional sense from a player and fan perspective. You can’t disagree with his sentiment there but it clearly doesn’t make sense from a business or footballing perspective. This is the nightmare we’re currently embroiled in. A situation where no outcome suits us. We either hold onto a total dickhead who doesn’t want to be here or we sell him to preserve the squad and overpay for a replacement who’s not as good.

This is the reason he’s fucked us, because we have no good options

 if Isak walks out of the tunnel ready to play on Monday I can't even imagine what the crowd reaction would be. I wouldn't know if I was supposed to boo or cheer.

There'd be a stunned silence. Before we all started to piss ourselves laughing. Unfortunately this isn't Ted Lasso.

It would be incredibly irresponsible for Liverpool to take any action between now and Monday, there's already far too much tension around this fixture as it is.

This lot have a history of somehow managing to get hold of tickets in the home end, it's potentially going to be a very busy night for the plod and the stewards.

The question is, who else would Liverpool want of the same calibre?

There isn’t anyone, it’s all just a scheme to unsettle our progress by magedia!

You’ve said it in light hearted way but I really do feel there’s something going on under the surface of why clubs have been reluctant to sell to us/top 6 constantly gazumping us. Once or twice is just a really bit of bad luck in a transfer window but I’ve never seen anything like it has been this window for us. To the point I’m adamant it’s all contrived by the way.
