Liverpool "won" the second Isak refused to play for us. They are either getting a top player and/or they have hurt the competition. Only question that remains is how badly we are going to lose. ExiledGeordie
Is there a world where we sign a second striker and keep him til Jan or for this season and leave it up to him how he wants to behave? You’d imagine PIF want to take a stance where they won’t be bullied by another club or player and to send out a message to other players in the squad and other clubs. This is ofcourse idyllic and doesn’t take into account finances and the impact on team harmony.

Palestoon
I think people are really underestimating just how much Isak and his agent are probably sweating this deadline approaching. He has so much more to lose than we do. I think a big part of the reason hes refused a reconciliation at this point is he knows hes acted like a prick and is bricking it thinking about having to face the music. But the reality is, hes not going to sit out a season. Hes not going to waste one of his prime years at 26 sitting out. Its literally unheard of. And its not like he has a year left on his contract where he can convince himself to lose a year and then hes free. We still have 2 years after that, and he could be dealing with the same situation again next summer. Part of the reason the behavior has been so extreme is to avoid this reality. They're going all in. But if it fails, hes in a terrible spot. And he'll come crawling back. The defiance will evaporate very quickly after the deadline passes

If he stays it causes so many issues, firstly if he is reintegrated, the squad have apparently been seething at him for how hes acted, that it'll be a nightmare to not only get Isak to perform but to get them back onside. Secondly, if we just let him rot and train alone, as cathartic as it would be, it sends out a terrible message to any would be signing that may want to come here in the future, and in the year he'd be rotting his value would depreciate significantly and we'd lose out on guaranteed revenue now. Thirdly, Howe will be asked about it in every press conference, every pre and post match interview, that it'll just overshadow the entire season, and just continue the drama, Howe won't want that, and I certainly fucking don't. Then their are fans, his situation is untenable, it doesn't matter what he does, he's never turning anyone around, he's going to be booed continually, and get absolutely pelters, that'll it'll once against be a distraction. So it's at the point where we just need to get as much as we feasibly can, and chuck this guy into the sea, and good riddance too. Cunt. The message it sends to future signings is - honour your contract and get your agent to agree a release clause when you sign because if you go on strike it’ll achieve fuck all. And if you’re grinding your arse into the groin of a new club make sure they have the balls to fuck, because we won’t be manipulated into accepting offers by snide players and agents If he’s rotting in the reserves the value of our asset is decreasing, but Isak’s peak era of his career is also on hold. He’s missing a minimum of 6 months in a short career, a career that stalled pre-NUFC and has been affected by regular injuries The press will largely forget about Isak once the window SLAMS SHUT. Eddie might get asked about it, but the clamour for a story will have gone because there’s no drama to drive clicks and viewers and listeners if he can’t be sold. duo
I for one hope he is still here when the transfer window shuts. I just really don't want him to get his move as I feel it just sends out the wrong message. Also Newcastle as a club will be viewed a lot stronger if he does stay and let us be honest we are also a better team with him. We have nothing to gain selling him now for what will be an amount below his value.

Yes, IF the transfer looks dead, I expect the Isak camp to come out with something along the lines of.. ’Alex is disappointed that a move hasn’t transpired, he is prepared to meet with the manager to discuss next steps…’ No way is he going to refuse to play for another four months until the next window and I think they will use Eddie’s good character and standing with the fans as a shield to reintegrate him. frankpingel
I just want to feel like we win, even if it's a small one. This means getting our asking price and another decent striker in or him going somewhere other than Merseyside.

The only potential outcomes you might be able to call a "win" are selling him for his worth (£150m or more) and bringing in a striker & a midfielder or he stays and is productive. In reality we'll have lost either way because of the disruption caused during the summer and these first three games but these would be the only acceptable outcomes imo. Pay up IF we get another striker. Or tell Isak to get his shit together because hes here for another year. And we have another young talent ready to take your spot. Choice is his... and it will be to come back with his tail between his legs and have a good season. This idea that we're cornered is a media narrative. Yep. If he stays there'll also be a very hearty sprinkling of Paul Mitchell blame as well in the inevitable articles...
