They had already spent

Any of them could’ve sold to cover it between now and the 30th June next year.  His conduct has been dogshit and perhaps they’ve seen elements of what we’ve seen - i.e. the poor one-on-ones and volleys.   We create a fuckton of chances.

I don't think his conduct matters too much to suitors honestly. We've seen players behave worst like raping people still end up at Madrid

Then we don’t sign a new contract and make it clear we intend to keep him for the next 3 years.

The reneging on the contract and no further discussions created the space that led to this situation.  We rested on our leverage of 3 years and didn’t even use it to get a premium.

How does that change anything. He still could refuse to play like he has done.

It might have been a more amicable split than the shit show of this summer but the end result would ultimately be the same he would have left this summer for similar amount just with a release clause instead of negotiation.

Giving him a new contract would’ve been the right thing to do. He would have less of a leg to stand on  if he had just signed a new contract 12 months ago.

She got stuff done. Brought everyone on the journey and vision.  As soon as she left - everything off the pitch started to crack.  Starting with that Mitchell interview. She brought unity from the top to the bottom.

I still think she had far too big a gob and she’s out for a reason.

The bit that doesn't add up is Ornstein saying the deal is worth 130m... but Liverpool paid 125m?

Or is it just poorly worded and he meant that Liverpool paid 5m as the solidarity component?

They pay 130. 125 goes to Newcastle. That is how I understand it

True :) - then there’s something else to it.  Zero chance these clubs don’t find the money if he’s the man they desperately want.  Ultimately, we may have wanted £150m but it looks to me like no-one wanted him for £125-ish million.

Fair enough but its also just statistics, something that is not added in to this is that defenders feared the C*nt and marked him tightly, giving a lot more space to our wingers. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gordon, Murphy and Barnes struggle more this season as they potentially pay less attention to the CF.

There are holes in stats for sure.

Gordon got off 10 shots in about 130 minutes as our CF against Villa and Liverpool. He was doing quite well (if not clinically) before that mad tackle. We were a bit FUBAR with that weird formation at Leeds this week on the wet pitch, but stick Gordon out wide again with a decent striker and I think the good times will roll again.

Must buy a striker tomorrow.

I've said this probably a dozen times in this thread - but there are no examples of a player strike extending past the transfer window.

Every single time either the deal is done or they come back from the cold.  No matter how toxic the situation.

No. I said if he didn’t sign a new contract everyone would know where they stood. We could’ve been firm and fair then.  Not  talking about a contract for the best part of a year created a gap that we could never close. We lost control of the situation as we thought we had leverage.

Fears of PSR overspend when we’ve qualified for the CL 2 out of 3 seasons and not signed a first team player in 2 years? [emoji38]

If remotely true Eddie must be going Alan Partridge on the cereal boxes after being so positive / composed in front of the cameras.

PIF just continue to balls things up - from no CEO, no DOF, send out a strong statement that proved not to true.  If it was just a case of an extra £15mil why not just tell Liverpool two months ago which would have put an end to this cicus.

They've all spent up man. It's why this saga was timed in this manner. Liverpool left so to make sure they had a free run. They never had any intentions of paying the going rate and they were right as bent over.

What exactly is the going rate? What someone else will pay or what you communicate directly to the team ( and not a bunch of media bullshit which can't be substantiated.)

And yet look at Wissa.

Isak had 3 years on his contract and no PSR breach deadline, everything else was noise

Howe wouldn’t have wanted Wissa back either if he was Brentford manager.

Two players acting the cunt, but different situations. Wissa didn’t reject contract talks and post public messages twerking for us.

It’s just business at the end of the day, unfortunately we got fucked by one of our own from maximising our profits on them.

I can actually think of a lot of positives re the whole saga, ultimately this may bring us a better outlook especially we are now officially free from PSR limitation for three years

but right now I just want to say fuck off Liverpool Isak and PIF. I need time to take this.

150m was a bargain price for anyone who could pay it. World class players are thinly traded.

Wissa put out a post today mate.

The difference is Brentford have held firm. We offered a contract to someone with 3 years left and sold him under value, Brentford offered him nothing and told him he's not for sale.

I just hope the club pull off another Woltemade-esque surprise tomorrow.

Otherwise I'm struggling to see where the goals are going to come from. At this rate we should of just kept Wilson.

I pray to God we do as I feel very deflated atm - the club is a laughing stock atm
