The reneging on the contract and no further discussions created the space that led to this situation. We rested on our leverage of 3 years and didn’t even use it to get a premium. How does that change anything. He still could refuse to play like he has done. It might have been a more amicable split than the shit show of this summer but the end result would ultimately be the same he would have left this summer for similar amount just with a release clause instead of negotiation. The College Dropout
For all the criticism he gets. Levy wouldn’t have folded like this. Spurs is his baby. We don’t have anyone like that.
LaurentRobert
I just hope the club pull off another Woltemade-esque surprise tomorrow. Otherwise I'm struggling to see where the goals are going to come from. At this rate we should of just kept Wilson.

He would have less of a leg to stand on if he had just signed a new contract 12 months ago. She got stuff done. Brought everyone on the journey and vision. As soon as she left - everything off the pitch started to crack. Starting with that Mitchell interview. She brought unity from the top to the bottom. I still think she had far too big a gob and she’s out for a reason.

Or is it just poorly worded and he meant that Liverpool paid 5m as the solidarity component? They pay 130. 125 goes to Newcastle. Memphis
I'm guessing this is going to be.one of those things where Liverpool sources claim it's £125 million but actually our sources say it's really £130 or more because of waived bonuses and incentives, etc.

Ultimately, we may have wanted £150m but it looks to me like no-one wanted him for £125-ish million.
Stottie
1 minute ago, Civetty said: Fair enough but its also just statistics, something that is not added in to this is that defenders feared the C*nt and marked him tightly, giving a lot more space to our wingers. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gordon, Murphy and Barnes struggle more this season as they potentially pay less attention to the CF. There are holes in stats for sure. Gordon got off 10 shots in about 130 minutes as our CF against Villa and Liverpool. He was doing quite well (if not clinically) before that mad tackle. We were a bit FUBAR with that weird formation at Leeds this week on the wet pitch, but stick Gordon out wide again with a decent striker and I think the good times will roll again. Must buy a striker tomorrow.

I've said this probably a dozen times in this thread - but there are no examples of a player strike extending past the transfer window. Every single time either the deal is done or they come back from the cold. No matter how toxic the situation.

No. I said if he didn’t sign a new contract everyone would know where they stood. We could’ve been firm and fair then. Not talking about a contract for the best part of a year created a gap that we could never close. We lost control of the situation as we thought we had leverage. Ronaldo
Fears of PSR overspend when we’ve qualified for the CL 2 out of 3 seasons and not signed a first team player in 2 years? duo
PIF just continue to balls things up - from no CEO, no DOF, send out a strong statement that proved not to true. If it was just a case of an extra £15mil why not just tell Liverpool two months ago which would have put an end to this cicus. Zero
I can actually think of a lot of positives re the whole saga, ultimately this may bring us a better outlook especially we are now officially free from PSR limitation for three years but right now I just want to say fuck off Liverpool Isak and PIF.
