 i wonder if there's some sly fox of a cunt at FSG who looked at our lack of leadership structure and realized they could fuck our pre-and-start of season - and possibly whole season - by kicking all this off, regardless of actual outcome.

I will never forgive Joe Torre for not bunting.

Imagine if we pull out at 6:59pm

I hoping we've slipped something into his protein shakes over the last couple of weeks and are waiting for the deal to go through before tipping the wink to the drug testing authorities

Will be interesting to see his first appearance at SJP as a Liverpool player, exciting!

Cant think of anything I'd less want to see than that.

Problem with all this is there's no revenge for us. The elite can treat other clubs like shit and we cant come back at them. Feels an absolute mugs game.

Huh?

He directly compares the Isak sale to Ashley's transfer dealings.  Says PIF ignored football related issues and just did it for the money, basically saying they're greedy like Ashley.

Hope there’s achievable add-ons to bump this up closer to 140-150m.

I bet there isn't - PIF gift wrapped Isak to Liverpool - they don't want to upset the Saudi League feeder club

Their player must want to come as well. And I doubt that unless you're talking about second stringers like Tsimikas or Endo.

We knew that at least 5 were happy to sign, funnily enough  Tsimikas i mentioned as he was one. Elliott, Doak were another 2 i was told. Didnt get told the others

At least this is over, time to make do and see what we can pull off in last few hours. Still get a feeling we have one more in us. FWIW Mainoo's agent is around and trying to do things so who knows!

I think the sale of Andy Cole hit me harder.

It was out of the blue.

Andy Carroll... Not so much as the club was a mess so couldn't blame him.

Isak... Nothing as I don't respect the man

Agreed. We were braced for this had we not qualified in the CL anyway and surely we all know the way football is now.

There was no PSR back then, no need to sell Cole and not even murmurings about doing so, was one of those you could not believe when you heard it.

I believe you think that you have but you haven’t. Saying levy is a good seller doesn’t address the fact NUFC is in a weaker and different negotiating position than Spurs were in selling Kane.

I was not ever attempting to change your mind as I made clear. It is not a personal attack it is outlining precisely why I’m posting and why I’m not looking to engage in a debate.

We weren’t in a weaker position.  Spurs had a:

- 30 year old striker

- 12 months left on his contract

- he had wanted to leave publicly for years

- No European revenue to offset any loss in fee

- Spurs are run for real profitability. Not PSR profitability but the real stuff

- 1 buyer

- low resale value for the buyer

- previously refused to train in a prior window

They got £20m more than Chelsea got for a 28 year old Hazard 2 years earlier.

You say they were in a stronger position because they don’t need the PSR headroom.  But spurs never have any intention of being close to their PSR position because they are run for profit.

We had a:

- 26 yo

- 3 years left on the contract

- 1 buyer (for this window, time enough on his deal to get another)

- not training and insisting we want to leave

- no short term PSR shortfall apparently

There’s every possibility this could’ve been handled better. The entire way through.

Most definitely.  They decide me they could bully us and win and they were right.
