fwiw, I don't recommend watching the segment because Carragher started it with a god awful myth making session of "we're unique among European clubs" and then "we have never sacked a league winning manager... never!". For context, they did show Roy Hodgson the door, and they've only won the league twice in the past thirty years, so haven't had many league winning managers to sack in the trigger-happy Premier League era. It is irrelevant whether Liverpool didn't sack a First Division winning manager, because managers didn't get fired anything like as often back then. They could be hopeless and get the whole season. Take backhanders, be alcoholics, shag the players' wives, you name it.

I'm not sure there's a pundit alive more insufferable than Carragher tbh. He's always grinded my gears with his holier-than-thou attitude and shite takes on almost everything.

As for sackings, the prior 5 managers to Klopp were all fucked off, so he's just talking out his arse as per.

Rodgers - Fired

Hodgson - Fired

Dalglish - Fired (Second stint)

Rafa - Left by 'mutual consent' with £6m payout

Houllier - Mutual consent after board request, such a feckless way to fire people (please mate, resign so we don't look like cunts)

Hopefully Slot is on that list sharpish, by mutual consent or otherwise.

He was referring to a manager that won the league for Liverpool and was sacked off the back of it.

I know Dalglish won it, but that was in his first spell.

Aye but the idea that Liverpool is special and would never do such a thing because the manager is King is ridiculous.

He said they’ve never sacked a manager that won the league with them.

Kind of hoping Slot stays.

He's doing a great job...

Liverpool had won fewer trophies than us when Shankly took over - so they only had four manager who’d won the title when managers were really a ‘thing’ in football.  No-one was likely to get sacked by Liverpool from the mid-60s to about 1990 - as long as they were winning.  The other two title winners are Klopp and Slot.   Carragher is technically right, but it’s hardly an impressive feat not to sack the most successful managers in your history (and some of the most successful in the history of football full stop).

I'm sure the 1974 cup final was the one where they went ahead of us in the trophy count.

Good Food Wow GIF by For(bes) The Culture

It’s been said often but needs repeating - it was never brought up when they were winning at the start of the season.  Though tbf the world’s most respectful club would always want to respect the tragic death of a young footballer in a vehicle accident *cough Munich songs cough*

I don't buy that excuse either, other than the fact he's just a huge loss as a player and along with Diaz and even Nunez, you're losing a lot of workrate and defensive work compared to Wirtz, Isak & Ekitike. With a waning Salah up there too, their pressing game is non-existent and they're easy to play against.

It was fairly predictable that pundits would start coming up with excuses for them. I'm sure it was very sad for them to lose a teammate and has had some level of impact. But to point to it as the sole main reason for their decline is ignoring all the other evidence.

Truth is they rode a wave of momentum last year when other teams were failing, Slot just had to tweak the Klopp team to be a little bit more conservative and it worked. They had Salah in the form of his life, (still convinced he was using some performance enhancers, and now he's had to come off the cycle and already has his contract we are seeing the drop off).

Also had alot of luck with injuries and the reality is that whilst on paper it looked like they had an amazing transfer window this summer, it's actually negatively impacted the team in a variety of manners and for that Slot we have to take the blame as these are his signings and his tactics.

I'm sure they will probably win the next couple against weaker opposition but it doesn't look like they have any hope of winning the league or Champions league and after all that money spent that is a major under performance.

They deserve this form for the cringey commentary when they scored against Bournemouth and it was on the 20th minute.

Sky sports now quoting Jota as the main reason constantly.

They've been flirting with the drop off in form started last season, not getting players for the positions they need, lack of energy and pressing in games, Salah, Wirtz/Isak being shit.

But no. It's Jota.

Shameless.

In 34 days, Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi will be free to complete a move to a European club when his contract expires on 30 June.

The 25-year-old can sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club when the winter transfer window opens on 1 January 2026.

Liverpool missed the chance to buy the England centre-back for £35m in the summer. The transfer saga, which lasted throughout the window, ended when Palace were unable to sign a suitable replacement - a decision driven by manager Oliver Glasner.

They could maybe move on from the death by just not bringing it up and singing about it every game, like

They fucking love it though. They’re a cult not a football club.

Carragher is insufferable the bairn spitting prick
