We can , I think we offer him 200k

Not sure if he will accept or leave next season but if he does (so be it)

We only want players who want to be here and can’t expect players to be loyal , they will always follow the money

it’s a job for them.

Our aim is to use that money wisely and build a squad that can challenge at the top consistently and in turn , pay those higher wages

That will put him on par with the global phenomenon Harry Maguire or probably a full back in the Chelsea B team

If money matters, there's nowt we can really do if one of the red tops, Chelsea and City target out players.

He’ll be expecting us to do a lot of business this summer and push on next season, then after qualifying for the CL again and increasing sponsorship revenues, maybe we can pay big wages. Hard to feel too optimistic he’ll be here beyond next season though.

As has been pointed out before, doubling his wages will technically cost us nothing because of the reduction in amortisation cost of his transfer fee.

There would be the risk of potential inflationary effect on other player's wage demands, but we could easily afford to pay him £300k per week.

I'd love to share your optimism but I think he goes next season at the latest. We can only imagine keeping him if we win the league imo. Really, desperately hope I'm wrong though.

I’m just going to enjoy him while he’s here.  I doubt he’ll be here in a couple of years’ time - but when he goes, it won’t be to fucking Arsenal, despite the delusional punditocracy who were desperate for him to head to Laaaaandaaan

As brilliant as he is I think Isak would have to stay fit and firing for a whole season for someone to spend £100m+ on him. I think the very elite clubs might still have some reservations.

If his contract runs down I guess it might be different.

I think we only have about 4-5 players at most who can demand top wages anyway. It's probably worth paying them to keep them onboard if we have aims to be considered a top club as well.

Definitely. He's helped win us a cup and played some fantastic football. Get a massive fee and wish him well. Just not to fkn Arsenal.

… or a team in the PL surely?

I also agree we are vulnerable to him leaving in the future, but I do wonder who would stump up the money. The only one that I could see potentially happening is Liverpool in a years time.

They would usually like to sign someone before they got to the £100m+ level, but maybe the signing of Wirtz is a shift in mentality for them to stay at the very top for a while.

City have Haaland, Real Madrid have Mbappe et al, it would take a lot for Man Utd to be able to get him, could Arsenal afford him? No idea, but the pool of clubs is quite small. If we do have a gentlemen's agreement with Isak to go, next summer would be the time to capitalise for maximum dollar. But no idea who would stump up the money, I know it sounds ludicrous but it genuinely would be in the region of £150m surely.

I never want to lose him and would be mint if he could score 200+ for us, but £150m would be very difficult to turn down, now or in the future.

The reality is we need to be making the type of signings that’ll convince players like Isak, Bruno, Tonali want to stay. So far I don’t think we’ve even been linked with those type of signings.

Annoying as it is as we strive to catch up no point worrying about it. I’ve always believed he will stay this summer and either sign a new contract end of the window when he’s seen who’ve we’ve signed or the club starts a bidding war if they feel they need to next summer with 2 years left on contract.

As long as it attitude and application are good I couldn’t see us losing much value even with 12 months on his contract. Just gambling on a contract run down when that close.

His current contract puts the power in our hands rather than him and his agents with no buyout clause. Extending and adding one wouldn’t necessarily be to our benefit unless the figure is £160+m as you’ve the barometer of Wirtz deal now to compare and contrast against.

With my negative hat on, he could struggle with fatigue/injuries next year, especially if getting flogged with all the extra games if we haven't signed an adequate Wilson replacement.

Could also be a scenario where it becomes public that he has refused a new contract. Which will sour abit of his relationship with fans and like Gordon last year, you will get a whole load of body language experts suddenly jumping on him and claiming he's not trying anymore etc.

Then if we finish lower in the table, miss out on CL and don't win anything. Then with only two years left, and perhaps with less impressive stats due to a drop in performance levels, his value will drop considerably from where it is now.

On the more positive flip side, he might be able to recover his injury problems  with a good summer off, come back fit and raring to go and continuing to involve into the elite player he has been. Then maybe we do somehow boost the squad and have the depth required to give next season a real go and helps us kick on to the next level and he then signs a new deal and wants to stay and win things with us.

There's a good chance a lot of this speculation is from his agent's side.

Considering there's ongoing discussions regarding a new contract for him.

As it helps apply pressure.

If a new contract can't be agreed, just agree with him to go to Barcelona or whichever club abroad next summer.

He cannot be sold to any other club in the Premier League. Would be pretty unacceptable IMO.

A lot of those negative scenarios can be guarded against by making a signing like Pedro. Not only someone who can play alongside Isak, but someone who can potentially fill in if we end up selling in a year's time.
