Cracking start to the Birmingham vs Leicester match, 1-1 after 14 mins. Brum started really well, but Leicester hit them with a devastating counter attack just after Blues hit the post - a bit like that Deeney-Knockaert scenario a few years ago, but they've just equalised.

Who invented this "sit on the advertising boards, fold your arms and nod" thing after scoring? Kudus did it the other day and now the Leicester goalscorer just did it.

Glad the Leicester scorer was booked, not for leaving the field of play necessarily but for such a shit celebration.

Came on here to post this. Great start. Only…didn’t Leicester hit their own post?

What a cracking goal just now too. Brilliant game this.

Tottenham have only won 2 League Cups since the start of the Premier League era, they will have nothing at all for over 16 years come February, so if you're a bit under 25 and support them you'll not have seen your team win a trophy in your time, or at least remember it, so if I was a 23 year old Spurs fan and had been into football for 14/15 years, I'd much rather my team had their fortunes in that time with world class players, big signings, Champions League finals, European football pretty much every year, winning far more matches than you lose, strong media presence, always on TV, portrayed as a 'big club', than someone like a Swansea or even Wigan with their one FA Cup in amongst season upon season of dross.

Of course winning competitions are important, and I'm sure Middlesbrough, Portsmouth, Swansea, Wigan etc. had amazing nights when they had their one big moment, but you know for us it will still be like 'only 1 trophy in 50 odd years' or whatever, and 'Mickey Mouse', so I'd rather get our house in order, and fully establish ourselves as a top 6 club, ensure we have as much finances as possible to really established a platform, get our squad up to scratch, get rid of the deadwood easier, bring in loads of kids you don't need register in your squad etc. so that in a few years we're in a position to be realistically challenging for 4 trophies every season.

They're not mutually exclusive of course, but winning the League Cup and finishing something like 9th or 10th wouldn't be a great season for the club, and assuming the top 5 do get CL, the European (competition) reward for even finishing 6th would be greater than the European reward for winning the EFL Cup.

Agreed.

Girona winning 3 nil, back to two points clear at the top, 9 points ahead of Barcelona.

At the worst they should be in the Champions League next season. Incredible

If they will be allowed in it (considering their ownership). Seems like they will be though.

Friday we will have City vs Fluminense for the club WC final, That's the team of the current main Brazil coach, should be an interesting/entertaining massacre from city against the so called relationism

People here in Brazil have been comparing his style with Guardiola's for years, truth is appart from liking the ball their teams don't have much in common, still, should prove a interesting watch of opposing styles with very different player levels (fluminense has Marcelo, Felipe Melo and a 43y/o keeper)

kind of want Liverpool to go through as this comp means fuck all to them, while they'll have more games in January without Salah, and Chelsea won't get a clear run to another cup.

a few injuries along the way would be a nice bonus
