If Slot wins the league with Klopp's team, doesn't that mean Klopp was underperforming? Klopp finished below us (!!!) not so long ago. fwiw, I think its a bit shit to win the league only once with Alisson, VVD and Salah. All three start in my all-time PL era team.

I had to look it up, but we were the first team to play City following the Rodri injury. Since we didn't start the season well ourselves, I guess it was unlikely that we would really go for it in that match

On an absolutely unrelated note. It’s mad how Norway and Sweden have two of the best attacks in Europe and it’s fairly likely neither will qualify for the WC as they don’t produce your Dan Eggen or your Pontus Kåmark anymore.

Klopp got 97 points without winning the league. Man City currently falling matters a lot. But I think the current squad suits Slot more than it did Klopp. They were at their prime under Klopp with a different team. If you look at Man City and Liverpool during the peak Klopp years, you'll see that Man City had nearly if not as good of a starting 11, but with much better squad depth. Klopps Liverpool were competing against the highest scoring PL team ever point wise.

They were piss poor yesterday but then Arsenal were really on it and that force Elanga and CHO back on the wings. I think you’ll probably see Forest drop off second half of the season.

Their form was skewed by the win at Liverpool and draw at Chelsea. There’s always an oddity sneaks into the Top 6 after 10 games and normally tails off. I’m more worried about Brighton who seem to be getting the extra point or two on results I wouldn’t expect them to.

I actually like the way Slot comes across though. I’m not saying I want pool to win the league but up until now  I’m far more accepting of them as a team. Hes got far more grace and decorum about him as a manger so far but it’ll be interesting to see if he loses it at all as the race cracks up.

I do think Liverpool have a massive chance for the league now as they have the attacking threat and the control in defence and midfield. Slot seems to have calmed them down a lot in some

ways.

Yeah Brighton are playing well

Really pleased we didn’t waste a single penny on Elanga.  His reputation with our fans seems to be playing against a shattered Dan Burn and dysfunctional NUFC on Boxing Day. Just not good enough

You're worried about a team that's failed to beat Ipswich, Forest and Wolves at home? Nah, they were crap up here, scored against the run of play after we should have already scored 2 or 3.

It's not too late for us to go back in for him. We are still being linked with him after all.

Rodri is out for the season, and Walker being a shadow of his former self. De Bruyne is also aging, and hasn't been at his best for a very long time. Their summer window looks pretty bad, bought Savinho while selling Alvarez. Haaland being their only striker in their squad currently. They have the worst squad the've had in many years, they have more injuries than they've had in many years, and they are breaking records for worst run of form in both Guardiolas carreer and their own form the last 17 years or so. They just lost 4-1 and 4-0 to Sporting and Spurs (at home), 5 losses in a row. The eye test for the last few games has told the same story. I have never seen them play like this under Guardiola before, and they haven't look like their former self in a single game since Rodri got injured. Before these 5 losses they barely managed to beat Fulham, Wolves and Southampton. This is not like every other year at all.

The point is that nothing is ever won in November but people are always in a rush to get their judgements in about us, or other sides.

Liverpool have experienced zero adversity as of yet and are only 5 (probably 8) points clear.

Guardiola has a history of finding solutions and is probably the best PL manager ever. January is also just around the corner.

If they find a way to shore up their midfield there's no reason they can't push again. We've no idea who will be top in May cos it's NOVEMBER.

I think Arsenal are way more likely to catch up than Man City. Can't see the current Man City squad winning 19 games in a row. They will most likely keep losing points here and there until christmas aswell, and I think Arsenal with Øde back are going to be stronger. They're even much stronger defensively with Øde.

All the challengers are always thoroughly unlikeable. You just have to pick the least worst option, and bizarrely right now for me it’s actually Liverpool.

Can't believe anyone saying Liverpool winning the league is a foregone conclusion in November

Every year it's the same, Man City falter pre-Christmas then they go on an incredible run right through to the end of the season.

Yes they look particularly bad atm and have some problems but I think they've earnt the right by now not to be written off until about March at the earliest

They've never went on such a bad run before but more than the bad run it's how shit they've been

In previous years they'd had wobbles but in a lot of the games they've still been the better side, creating chances but not taking them

Whereas lately they are struggling to create chances and are cut open with such ease they concede big chances

They'll likely be 11 points behind by next weekend, which means Liverpool can afford to lose 3 games and draw one and they'd still be ahead (plus City will drop more points)

I don’t really see the point in stressing over who is going to “win” a sports league that has rules in place to stop most of its participants from competing. It’s not that far off worrying about who will be WWE champion.

No offence but looking at the Europe thread you said in February you didn't think we could make up 5 points on Man Utd.

Which is exactly the type of thing I'm on about - having an attention span of about 5 games and projecting it on to the entire season. It appears to be quite common.

Just amazes me how most of us have been watching football a long time but many make the exact same misjudgements every single season.

The answer is there is no answer yet, but after less than a third of the season there's not a chance I'm writing off Man City or crowning Liverpool.

This is the first time since Guardiola took over that I'm basically writing Man City off before christmas. It's not just based on the fact that it's an 8 point gap, they just don't have a good enough team to catch up this season, as they would have relied on Rodri. Rodri was a massive contributor to all of their comebacks in the past, the few times they've had to play without him, their winrate has allways been very different.

Arsenals and Liverpools starting lineups are currently consitenly one step above Man Citys in quality, and this has never been the case before during Guardiolas time here. Basing your opinion purely on historical events is meaningless without all the other context.

I'm not writing Arsenal off yet, though.
