Here's a question...

Would you rather...

Finish 17th being utter dire but winning the Europa, and getting Champions League like Tottenham

Or finish 2nd, get to two semi-finals, but ultimately fail, and get Champions League like Arsenal.

And who would you say had a better season?

Man Utd, Man City and probably Liverpool would have rather have had Arsenals season, but us Arsenal and Spurs would have preferred Spurs' season IMO.

When winning a trophy has been such a long time coming, that's all that matters and it becomes easier to ignore the league. If you're used to winning trophies, then being competitive in the league becomes more important, as that is a more accurate description of how good you are as a team and where the club is going.

Yeah will go down as one of the worst finals of all time. The lack of quality was stark. At one point second half there was a passage where both teams just kept giving ball back to the other within two passes. Horrific stuff.

The scrappy goal fit perfect.

Pretty impressive how badly Son's legs have fallen off a cliff mind. Looked like he's aged about 20 years this season.

Thought similar.

Awful game. Up there with our 0-0 with Cardiff. You know the one, the Kenedy game

Personally, I’m very happy for Spurs. Loads of my good mates support them, I can’t stand Man U and this just completes the set of teams that don’t win trophies. Actually finally winning trophies. Well, for knockout competitions, anyway. Good for them.

Oh and the Arsenal fume is going to be delicious

Palace and now this horrific Spurs.

Suddenly winning trophies feels less special, less of an achievement  :anguish:

Was a fun two months, though.

That game was dreadful, no quality of any kind, it was so bad [emoji38]

Just finished watching it. That Spurs clearance off the line was the one quality moment.

It’s the complete opposite IMO - Man Utd are already one of the world’s biggest clubs and can comfortably survive failing to qualify for the CL - they’ll be back.  This is much, much bigger for Spurs

Eventually they will be back, but this is also a huge setback for them and will make their return pushed further back. The longer they stay down in the gutter the better.

Unless Spurs change owner im not that worried about them.

I agree with this. The year of the bird they're calling it, and now some are already calling it the year of the cock. Soon they'll be saying that this whole season was for the birds and our cup triumph, which we were supposed to cherish, will turn into a kind of albatross, something they'll never let us forget.

For the birds? Yes, Magpies.

They’ll just move the goalposts.

The real thing that is so meaningful with Arsenal is that a couple of years ago they were actually demonstrably too scared to play us so they ran away. We will have that forever.

Apparently we had 27 different players start games in the Europa, with three others making sub appearances. Feels like that must be some kind of record. They ran out of medals. Just shows what a mess this season has been, and what an bizarre achievement this is.

I've seen a lot of really bad finals but that was up there with the worst of them. No skill, flair or desire. I can't stand either team so have no interest in who actually won.

You can a handle a bad final if both teams are doing pretty well in their respective leagues, but this just makes a mockery of the tournament.

Absolutely this. Struggling to remember a major final with such an absence of quality, passion and desire. Utterly dreadful spectacle
