Celtic 0-0 Kairat Almaty at HT. Celtic have looked woeful. From what I gather, their board is stockpiling cash, selling their best players and not replacing them. I guess they cab bank on Rangers being clown show every year to see them right in the league, Europe not so much!

Jesus, that Celtic game was absolutely diabolical. Almaty have got to fancy their chances of making it through now. Celtic have a game this weekend, then travel to the corner of Kazakhstan that borders Kyrgyzstan and China and then the small matter of the derby at Ibrox.

Meanwhile, they have 100m sat in the bank and have spent 3m so far this summer.

Did Mike Ashley takeover Celtic overnight and we all missed it!?

Had to Google the exact location of Almaty and it's only 600 miles from the Chinese border. Insane they are classed as a European football club. As funny as it would be seeing Celtic knocked out by some Kazakhs it would be disgusting having to go to Eastern Kazakhstan especially if we played the mackems the following weekend

So far, Fredrikstad don't seem like the mugs I was expecting.

I'm watching genuinely confused, because either the standard of the Norwegian league isn't as shit on the whole as I believed, or Palace are absolute dogshit (which doesn't compute with what I've seen from them in the PL)

Even more so confused as Rosenborg looked the better team against Mainz and beat them 2-1 in their match earlier tonight, as well as Brann managing to win 2-1 at home against some Cypriot side as well. We were secured two teams in Europe due to Bodø/Glimt qualifying for the EL if they lost their CL Play-Off and Brann qualifying for the ECL if they go out against AEK. Never envisioned neither Rosenborg or Fredrikstad even remotely looking like they had any semblance of hope in their matches, now I think Rosenborg actually have a chance to qualify and if Fredrikstad keep it to 1, god knows what could happen when they play Palace at home. Madness. Utter, utter, madness.

Some mixed results for the British and Irish clubs in the Europa and Conference League Play-offs:

Hell of a result for Shamrock in the Conference League, they beat Santa Clara (who finished 5th in the Portuguese League last season) 2-1 away from home.

Shelborne also beat Linfield 3-1 in a re-match if the Champions League qualifier from a few weeks back.

Hibs look like they're heading out after losing 2-1 at home to Legia Warsaw.

In the Europa League qualifiers, Aberdeen came from 2 down to draw 2-2 against 10 man FCSB at home.

Lincoln Red Imps lost 4-0 at home to Braga, but they're garenteed an entry into the Conference League League stage, which is surely a win for a Gibraltar based team?

Norwegian sides are 18/19 games into their season to be fair , I’d imagine that match sharpness makes up for the gulf in quality

In past seasons Norwegian clubs have played many a pre-season friendly against PL teams whilst being mid-season, and bar the odd “Man Utd being shit” our clubs have usually been rolled over even in mid-season form and fielding their strongest starting elevens. Again, the odd exceptions being when they field their U20s against Man Utd’s presumed first week starting eleven and roll them over with ease.

FWIW, there’s apparently only one team Bodø/Glimt wants to avoid from pot 3 and 4 (as they believe they can square up against the rest), and that’s us. I quote supporter-club spokesperson Martin Sleipnes:

“Newcastle tror jeg ville vært svinjævlig å møte”.

Direct translation: “I believe Newcastle would be damn fucking hard to play”.
