Cool as fuck. Always feel he's underrated as well, won everything with everyone and was still a rolls royce for Milan well into his 30s

Think Gyokeres is fine and scores plenty considering how risk averse Arsenal are. Think people are too harsh on strikers in general, Liverpool would be a better team if they still had Darwin Nunez, Chelsea would be a better team if they still had Nicolas Jackson, Arsenal are a better team with Gyokeres.

I'd not enjoy winning with that brand of football personally. If you're an up and coming team, or a minnow, there's great pride and joy from playing and winning like that - but if you have the players and resources of Arsenal, and the legacy of Wenger, Thierry Henry and the Invincibles behind you - just don't see the joy in it. Where is the art?

Football becomes an irrelevance to success. Why watch, just follow BBC live text and extract your joy or sorrow from that.

He's fine, but I do think he's a poor finisher.

As a fan you don't care about the brand of football when you're top of the league and in the CL final.

Why are the refs not doing anything about it? I just don't get it

Near the end the ball runs out for a goal kick, Molina kicks it straight to Raya, 90 seconds later the goal kick still hasn't been taken and the ref gives Simeone a yellow for complaining

He's not my favourite Dutch midfielder of all time, though. No, my favourite Dutch midfielder of all time is Mr Edgar Davids, so...

I'd love to hear Wenger's honest thoughts on it, given how long he spent pushing back against the Allardyces of the world

It is basically percentage football they play on a much higher scale than an allardyce pulis ball.

Can play football but would rather be cheating diving twats looking for setpiece after setpiece all game.

Time wasting after five minutes of play it's just not right is it?

In fairness I do care about it. Results are a huge aspect of football but they’re not everything. I see people whingeing on here when we lose a match because of a single moment and it colours their perspective that the whole performance is shite and that a certain player needs to go or the manager has been found out.

Obviously, there’s a cumulative nature to people’s frustrations but a lot of it is extremely fickle, emotionally underdeveloped nonsense.

Winning a trophy is incredibly special but looking back, winning that League Cup was made more special by virtue of the fact that we had a brutally difficult run and we deserved to be winners, having played a quality brand of football through most of the competition.

If I’d watched us play corner kick ball and had seen our manager carrying on like a hypocritical classless bitch I’d definitely have not had as amazing an experience after the game when we’d won and since then.

I think for some people, the winning is too important and it’s so they can shove it in someone else’s face. Not saying that’s you or most fans but too many have a personality that’s tied to football’s ups and downs in terms of results. What’s important is results and performances as a combo. We’ve not had a great deal of either this season and it’s been fucking awful because of it

Great post.

Yeah I think that's why despite us having relative success in the cups this season, I haven't enjoyed this season at all as I think the football has been pretty poor to watch especially in the league from us.

Plenty of us on here kept saying Pardews fifth season wasn't sustainable and it wasn't good enough (perhaps with the exception of the 433 towards the end with Ba Cisse HBA). It's basically where Arsenal are now but just a much better version.

Mind the last 25 minutes or so Arsenal were fantastic tonight, gave Atletico nowt to work with.

I agree actually. I really care about how we play and took real pride in Eddie’s attacking football when it worked. It was the same with KK and SBR. I’m just saying that if we played like Arsenal and were top of the league and in the CL final the discussions on here wouldn’t be about our brand of football, most of us would overlook it.

I do think I would care and I've seen plenty of Arsenal fans cry about it earlier in the season while being top of the league.

It really highlights how much better the Premier League is with this stuff. If CL matches adopted the same timekeeping games would have 15-20 minutes added on until teams pulled less bullshit.

In 22/23 when we were shithousing our way to wins week after week and Tindall was acting the twat on the touchline week after week and we finished 4th in the league and got to a cup final most people who support NUFC thought it was fucking mega to be such bastards.

Opposition players and managers and fans fucking hated us for it. But as fans of that side, we were like pigs in shite.

Granted, some people who support NUFC might not have liked it, but I don’t remember many NUFC supporting football purists complaining at the time.

Give me that over the soft as charts capitulating version of NUFC I’ve had to watch this season, I’ll take it any day of the week, any week of the year.

Champions league apparently has more game time than any of the top 5 leagues. Poor numbers across the board mind.

That’s fascinating and genuinely surprising. Imagine how bad the Premier League would be if they didn’t add so much time on. Wonder if VAR is a factor?
