I think we achieved more in the CL this season than Villa have in the Europa with our performances against top class sides.

Tend to agree. CL is a much tougher competition, and we did fairly well overall against some of the biggest clubs in the world.

You can always trust the same faces of NO to use another teams success as a yard stick to beat Eddie Howe with, so predictable and boring with zero nuance when talking about two completely different clubs with completely different players and completely different circumstance.

Well done to Villa I'm really happy for them, but comparison is the theif of joy and I will continue to enjoy the trajectory we are on and looking forward to a busy summer and what promises to be a much better season next. I hope Villa continue to upset the cartel just in the same way I hope that we do too, but maybe not quite as much for them.

My heart would say the FA Cup - I don’t know anyone my age when they were a kid pretending to score the winning goal in anything but the cup final (and it says it all that when an English person says ‘the cup final’ we know exactly which competition I’m referring to).  My head says the UEFA Cup holds more prestige.

Yes, conceding seven to Barcelona knocks winning the UEFA Cup into a cocked hat

This is how I think about it too.

It’s a tough question tbh :) - I think an FA Cup win would mean far, far more; I’d genuinely get emotional if we won it.  The UEFA Cup would be fantastic to win, but I don’t think it would have the emotional heft.

I wouldn't use Villa as a stick to beat Eddie Howe with, but you could use Martinez as an example of what a much better keeper than Pope or Ramsdale will get you. I think its at least five places up a very tight league.

Rolling over to let Spurs tickle their bellies and probably escape relegation isn’t exactly sticking it to the cartel

CL is massive for money and prestige of course but I'm just thinking about from a fans point of view of just enjoying football matches and challenging for trophies. Id love us to win the EL and fuck me we're gonna have to watch bloody Palace lift a European trophy now too.

I'm sure when we're an established good side we'll still have offish seasons and probably end up in the EL but if we're gonna kick on in the next couple of years I'd kinda like a crack at the EL and win the thing along the way.

Aye. Unless you’re going to build on the CL entry like we did the first time - it’s actually not worth it from a fans perspective.  This second run we would’ve been better off Europa.

They didn't look like a club anywhere near qualifying for the Champions League or winning owt this time last year.

Plus we failed to keep our best player despite winning a trophy AND qualifying for the CL, what more could we have done as a club, other than offering massive wages?

Yeah but they are bigger clubs. I think you are just bit clouded by being close to NUFC.

The name and the history of those clubs carry aot more weight.

If you’re talking prestige then it’s pretty close. With champions league having more international prestige and the league having more national prestige. However, if you’re talking difficulty level then it needs completely reworking

League > CL > FA Cup > League Cup > Europa > Conference if we're going for difficultly I'd say.

Would flip the FA Cup / League Cup due to non league teams and the two legged semi finals.

A lot of the bigger sides use the League Cup to play youth and reserves though and only take it seriously towards the end of the competition.

I think the FA Cup is more prestigious and therefore more hotly contested.

Prestige maybe but probably not difficulty. Ours and City’s runs to winning it have been pretty murderer’s rows. Theirs and Palace’s cup runs haven’t. For a non-Cartel club to stitch together two performances in the semi finals usually against one of that lot is much more challenging than a one off game.

But if you’re in Europe you have to play fewer games, with the likelihood that at least a couple of Premier League teams will be out before you even start. Overall the chances are your League Cup run will be easier, if only because it will require fewer ties. The two-legged semi could make it harder or easier, depending upon your opponent.

Maybe it’s recency bias due to the difficulty of our 24/25 win coupled with watching Man City put 10 past Exeter in the FA Cup 3rd round and then another gimme v Salford in the 4th round.

Think I’d probably switch FA Cup and Europa but it’s close and otherwise agree on this ordering.

I think years ago FA Cup before Europa League but given the prize for the Europa League these days I do think it trumps the FA Cup.
